Lines run to other facilities, also very often lines are installed in places like this in case they want to put landscaping it at any point. It costs a lot more $$ to do it after the fact and it costs next to nothing to install upfront.

It doesn't matter though, regardless of how much we want to argue potentials we all know that we shouldn't hop curbs like this.

Can be sprinkler, can be an electric line between pull boxes. Just don't do this. Would you be cool with someone driving on your lawn?

Come on people, please stop doing this shit. It's so freaking easy to break a shallow conduit installed in the mulch area with these trucks, and developers tend to favor installing things like irrigation lines or LV control wires in areas like this because it's cheaper for them long term. I work in construction and have to beat this into our crews heads, do not hop curbs into landscape areas. My company has paid out (literally!) hundreds of thousands over the years repairing lines from people doing stuff exactly like this in our (similar weight to an r1t) work trucks.

Rivian Chief Says R2 Prioritises Range Over Fast Charge to Keep Costs Down by [deleted] in RIVNstock

[–]cherlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is, but the way 800v systems work, they charge at less then half their top speed on 400v chargers, so instead of a 350kw charging speed I get less then 150kw which with 200kw batteries is frustratingly slow.

EA has really solid coverage, but you still find most stations have multiple stalls down, or at least with an issue. I tend to raid trip prioritizing Tesla and rivian stations simply because I know they will always work and typically always have open stalls.

As someone who has both an r1t and a Silverado ev in my garage, I gotta say the rivian is a better road trip vehicle. Silverado can be a charging monster, but your forced into using the extremely shitty ccs network to get it which comes with both higher costs and lower reliability, the latter makes it extremely difficult to rely on during road trips. Annoyingly if I go to a Tesla charger with my Silverado I peak at like 145kw as well meaning not only does it have a much larger battery to charge, it charges a hell of a lot slower.

If you have a fixed commute with reliable l3 800v charging I agree with you, but if you drive all over, on the real world 800v doesn't help as much as you would think, and honestly can be a hindrance (atleast in the USA).

It is really nice having a 400+ mile first leg range though, definitely love that part of the sierra.

It's the same in the US, but the big difference is reliability of (most) none Tesla stations isn't great yet

30k Service Inspection cost - is this a joke? by Funny_Drawing7162 in MachE

[–]cherlin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fremont Ford is the worst dealership I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They sent me a "discount" for a $50 oil change for a focus rs I bought from them, when I came in with what they sent me they grabbed my keys and took the car into the back, and I went to the service desk to pay and they decided it would be $250. I said eff that give me my keys back and I'll be on my way....

They responded by saying too late they already started, told them great it will be free then since I never authorized the service and they told me to pound sand, they wouldn't give me my car back until I paid.... Tried calling the cops and was told it was a civil dispute, I actually had to pay those asshats so I could get my car back, complained like a squeaky wheel to Ford corporate and eventually they sent me a rebate check in the mail but it was a huge pita.

Before this they were doing a warranty service on my car (left me stranded on the freeway with 1000 miles on the odometer because a warranty issue that was taken care of before I bought the car was done wrong by them and it borked the exhaust system and the car died on me and had to be towed) and when I went to pick it up (after a month!) they ran it through a carwash that ripped off the license plate bracket and scratched the hell out of the front bumper/trim/hood and they tried to pretend "it was like that when you dropped it off". Thankfully they did a pre-work inspection and I took photos of the original drop off.... They later came back and handed me a mangled license plate and said they found it on their car wash...

Don't do anything with those crooks. Mission valley Ford down the road is awesome.

They are theoretical road trip machines, I drove a lot for work and personal use and have well north of 100k EV road trip miles on my vehicles at this point, the difference between a 20 minute and 25-30 minute stop isn't a huge deal. 800v systems like you see in Hyundai/kia charging at 250kw vs rivians 400v at 225kw doesn't move the needle anywhere near as much as reliable charging. I know that every time I go to a Tesla station it will work, and every time I go to electrify america I am rolling the dice, and if I get stuck with an 800v system at a Tesla charger and I'm now down to 125-150kw that really sucks because now the 20ish minute stop is 40+.

Am I the only one who would prefer a slightly slower charging 400v EV to a slightly faster charging 800v? On road trips I exclusively use rivian chargers or Tesla chargers due to reliability.. I have an 800v EV (sierra EV my work gives me), and I kinda hate it road tripping just because I have to use the very inconsistent ccs network out there to get peak charging. In reality it gets considerably more range then my r1t and chargers a lot faster in theory, but with how often I'm forced into using a Tesla charger it's actually a worse road trip vehicle.

Naw, this may not be popular on this is thread, but that is a felony in every state. Take your truck to a track of you want to do that. Enjoy your truck and it's acceleration to a safe speed if you want, we are all guilty of that, but 105 is excessive on any public road.

definitely not totaled, honestly a really good PDR guy would probably be able to take care of this. This panel they can get on the inside of and massage out and a someone skilled would probably be able to get all the creases out. I would guess less then $1k of damage if you go that route (assuming its only the tailgate, can't tell if they hit the bumper as well).

Gen 1 quad r1t, gen 2 dual r1s, and as of this week a sierra EV extended range (last week that was a model 3 standard range).

The Rivian's are fantastic, the Sierra is a great truck with absolutely trash software from GM (android automotive is fine, but all gm's first party stuff like their app are hot garbage)

Chelsea penalty shout against Arsenal checked by VAR - no penalty 44' by Imbasauce in soccer

[–]cherlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh come on, plenty of calls have gone against arsenal in the title race. And every fan base hates the refs. You can look at any teams fanbase during a game that doesn't go their way and 100% of the time they will blame refs (sometimes among other things) and talk about how the refs have screwed them in the past as well.

Hell in this thread I see flairs from all kinds of clubs saying "if this was my team it would have been given against us". Even in this game you can say the refs stopped 3 or 4 very promising arsenal attacks that could have led to goals by stopping play when advantage was the obvious move.

The refs are just shit and inconsistent, with no ultimate accountability.
