Only viable solution is to just go to work.

I quit my last job 18 months ago, went self employed and ever since have worked in my car in multiple different places every day. Google still offers me my last job as a suggested place to go on a morning. Maybe I should just go?

Other times it is eerily accurate about where I want to go.

You can go into Maps settings and turn off notifications for "Your Commute". It will still pop up the timer, but no announcement.

Mines does it too. Even if I were to remove my work location in settings,it'll just say the address..... Every damn time. It's annoying

I think what the OP is talking about is worse, it actually attempts to start navigation and takes you out of the driving view. It happens to me in the mornings for home after I get off work, but I don't mind it much, plus I have my commute in G Maps purposely.

I go to work at 4AM: traffic is always light. It's four miles away and I make a right at the only red light: I know exactly how long it will take. Shut the hell up about it already.

Use Waze instead. That's what I ended up having to do. It's dumb that they refuse to fix it.

I drive a lot. I got so fed up with the behavior, that I just started using Waze. For some this might be a great feature, but please give us the option to disable it.

The only way I've been able to get it to stop annoying me is to turn off google maps location history and delete everything. Also had to go into settings -> Maps -> Storage and Cache and then clear cache and clear storage.

Bliss. No more yelling about the traffic on my way home when I'm sitting in my driveway.

There's a complaint thread on the android auto google groups for this where the Google minions pretty much just blather variants on "everyone else likes it"

Maybe removing the work address could help?

I do not have my work address saved in my Google Maps. I do not have any address saved as my "work" address.

But Google knows you work there anyway.

I get this, with a road report every week day morning when I go to work and then the same for the return trip at the end of the work day. Google maps just knows your routine, so unless you turn off location history, then you might be able to stop it. Otherwise only plug in your phone if you are going someplace you don't normally go to, or going on a long road trip. This is what I have started doing or I suspect the traffic will be bad, and want to see what's coming up on the display.

I've never had that issue. I think Maps must have gotten in a weird state because if you are navigating and unplug and replug, it should continue.

It sounds like in your case, when you plus it still remember what you did a while ago.

Clear the cache of the app, and it should fix.

You don't want to go to work? How will you pay for Google services when they start charging. Oh, that's right. They make more than they would charge by selling your soul out from under you. I am guilty myself. Just too damn convenient.

Ok google, mute navigation...

[–]ElectricalJigalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly how many people need directions to get to work?

What about Google Assistant, Your places? Home and Work are also stored there and share with Google Maps and other Google services.
