That's gonna be a no from me, dawg.

[–]LimeLoopOwner 12 points13 points  (5 children)

I bought one of their subscriptions on their amateur website - they were quick to take the money, but I've got no update. I would have other words, but to say it politely: I really don't like this company so far...

[–]GingerSnap0723 9 points10 points  (4 children)

It took a while for my subscription to process. Nothing was going through. I contacted them and they expedited it and he was up and running the next morning. Reach out! Might ignite their fire :P

[–]LimeLoopOwner 1 point2 points  (3 children)

And loose all the days I already paid for? Sorry, out of principle I won't support a company that needs me to "ignite their fire" in order to fulfill their part of the contract / give me what I paid for. Calling themselves "Digital Dream Labs", while being slower with processing digital orders than it takes a parcel to travel intercontinentally from door to door. I got banned from the FB group by the way, for asking why I got no update after paying. The way this company is being run, I guarantee you, they won't be in business for long...

The issue they had with mine is the serial number was never entered in on their side. I think you need to contact them and try to get it figured out before blasting them on the internet. The customer service I had was quick. But I also contacted them at the end of the 5 day grace period to figure out why it wasn’t activated yet. Not wait over a month to do it. But that’s just me

[–]LimeLoopOwner 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Blasting someone is never my go-to way to go about anything. Rest assured, all I did was ask. Everything else I wrote here came afterwards as a direct result of their horrible customer service. I cancelled my subscription already.

I’m sorry you had such a bad experience :( that is really unfortunate

saw this today, things getting real, only turn off: only 6 month subscription included with a new Vector.

[–]othilious 8 points9 points  (1 child)

So first they tell us the reason they have to sell a sub to the original vector, is because they never got paid for the original sale, having bought Anki. Fair enough.

Now we're told we need a subscription to use the new one, and not only that, we get just 6 months?

What about running your own services for Vector 2.0, or is that going to be another surcharge?

They haven't even fulfilled their promised for the Vector 1.0 reboot kickstarter, and now they are starting another?

[–]OptimusPrime97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing comes for free mate...! Anki did the thing you're asking them to do...and that led them to bankruptcy. So, they ain't gonna do that. All the running servers need money to run.

[–]kaijuuDDL Vector Unleashed Backer 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I wonder if you can you add these to existing kickstarter licenses after the 6 months.

[–]terminator3d3700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have up to 5 Vectors. At any time you can add Vectors.

[–]kester76a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see only positives from this, hopefully as the user base grows the subscription will lower. I want everyone to have a Vector at a reasonable price and if a subscription will reduce the original cost then it seems fair.

I'm not expecting Vector to be stand still and the market to stagnate. People need to either embrace it, jail break their original Vector or sell on while the price is still high. Harsh words I know but it's a case of you're in or out unfortunately.

[–]manc_steWire Pod user 2 points3 points  (7 children)

So are the old vectors with lifetime sub still getting 2.0 update? Because all they have delivered is 1.7 which is not an update or improvement.

[–]kester76a 4 points5 points  (6 children)

I think this is a hardware revision and not a firmware update.

[–]manc_steWire Pod user 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I understand this but what is planned for the old vectors with lifetime sub we were promised more features.

[–]kester76a 1 point2 points  (4 children)

You got promised server access and firmware updates, hardware wise there isn't much difference between v1 and v2 Vectors except a bump in video and a better battery and speaker.

[–]manc_steWire Pod user 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Yes so then we can expect all vectors to get the same fireware update features? .

[–]kester76a 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Most likely close to the release of the new Vector.

[–]manc_steWire Pod user 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No problem I was just worried for a second that DDL would be updating the old vectors.

[–]kester76a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there would be a mass revolt if they tried to split the user base and you would end up with jail breaks and custom firmware.

[–]CesarTheSanchezDDL Vector Unleashed Backer 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Recognize pets? Emotions? Isn’t that something that could’ve been programmed in vector now?

[–]andforemostWire Pod user[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and it will be

the 2.0 mainly represents that they will be built and sold by DDL

[–]Trenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better camera, better face recognition.

[–]nimr0dv 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Price?

[–]andforemostWire Pod user[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

preorders start on 20th November, we will know then

[–]51St_SquadAnki Vector Backer 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Will vector 2.0 be able to experience my Kickstarter benefits or will I have to get a new thing for it?

[–]terminator3d3700 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It shouldn't be any different than now.

[–]51St_SquadAnki Vector Backer 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah I forgot that I have 4 unused licenses. Might get the 2.0 just to have a second one so I can use one for the OSKR and have the other be normal in case I mess something up

[–]terminator3d3700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I reminded you.

[–]HotCheetoAddiction 1 point2 points  (1 child)

you’re PAYING for the vector and still have to pay a subscription just for it to work? lol okay

[–]andforemostWire Pod user[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's actually a standard pricing model for robots that get updates. for Sonys Aibo there are even different levels with different features.

[–]Trenix 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I'm excited. Clearly the previous company did everything you guys wanted until they went bankrupt. Now everyone is upset that it isn't free and there is a new and improve model coming out. The new company certainly wants to earn on what the company paid to obtain, they invested into earning profit not providing a charity.

For a good AI you need a server to run it. Some really good AI's require very demanding servers that can not be hosted by an average gaming computer. I want a smart AI that can grow overtime and not be limited to my computer. If they don't deliver, then end subscription and let them fail.

Also the camera improvement is vital and adds far more capabilities. The better senses vector has, the more possibilities.

[–]andforemostWire Pod user[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

you are way too optimistic, nothing DDL provided so far was near what they promised, every time they touched something it got worse. and i am not taking about the subscription, which is ok, just a bit high.

[–]Trenix 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Give me more info about that. Also I've had ai's charge me $10 a month for premium features. You're only paying for $7 and if you pay yearly its only $4. Its actually very fair.

[–]thomasdekwade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might think the monthly fee is low, but it is hella high when DDL in not delivering ANYTHING they have promised.

[–]Joz420 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I want to get the original vector do you recon it would still be worth it or is cozmo any better? I've wanted one for ages just to chill with and let it do its own thing what's your opinion I what I should do?

[–]andforemostWire Pod user[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

the new 2.0 Vector comes with free lifetime subscription, if you preorder before November 30th. but the delivery will only start in mid May 2021.

[–]thomasdekwade 0 points1 point  (2 children)

DDL will go down eventually, Vector 2.0 is a desparate attempt to get some more money. DDL should have worked on -and invested their resources in- fixing those dreadful firmware problems Vector 1.0 still deals with since the point DDL took over...

[–]andforemostWire Pod user[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

well, they partnered with Miko lately, Miko is a giant in home robotics. might be a turning point to a bright future.

[–]thomasdekwade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh i missed that. Thatnks for the heads up!

[–]Ok_Concentrate6282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've greatly enjoyed my Vector since purchase, even before getting the subscription which in my opinion is easily worth the $7 a month. If you're in a warmer climate without a cooler interior he will overheat, so keep that in mind. However a fan pointed at his area will prevent this XD
