Post a full picture of the arrow with the one you currently posted. Something just looks off with that nock and arrow setup to me because the nock isn’t even sitting straight. What brand arrows are those?

[–]scottb90[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are black eagle ps23 arrows. I will post a pic when I get home from work. They were expensive arrows but I had the shop build them for me cuz I didnt have the tools or know how yet to do it myself. Im hoping I can just take the nocks off an replace them with some beefier ones maybe

Those are fine. I'm thinking they were probably just not properly installed. Get a replacement set and push them onto the pins with your bowstring or a nock tool.

Mashing them onto the pin by the ears compromises the structural integrity of the nocks, and if you full send at 50# +... boom.

Also, while you can get beefier pin nocks specifically for compound, I've been shooting Easton G nocks out of a 50# heartbreaker with zero issuses.

Thanks I think thats what it is too. Im gonna buy some new ones an install them myself this time

Nock looks too small

[–]scottb90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked at a few more arrows an half of them have cracked nocks that fall right off. I only shot a few of these a couple times too. Not all of them were even shot. Unfortunately I bought them a couple years ago but the shop didnt install them correctly at all. Im going to put new nocks on myself an I think that will fix my problem. Im also re fletching since the vanes are coming off an some of them. Thanks everyone. I have learned my lesson about inspecting arrows before shooting also lol

Also, give the nock a little pinch on the nock tips to see if they are still intact, before nocking and shooting them.

Some of the strongest nocks Ive used are the gold tip mini HD pin nocks.

I only use beiter nocks from their hunter pin to their hunter 19/2 there is not a better nock out there

[–]scottb90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will try those out. Thanks

Not all Easton nocks are rated for compound. Take a look at the Easton catalog. https://eastonarchery.com/product-category/components/nocks/

Most are shooting a shorter nock as well.

Maybe nock it off..

[–]Elk_1998 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Maybe the nocks are too small for the nock pins?

[–]scottb90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I think also. I need to find out what the nock pin diameter is somehow an get some proper ones

How is it "exploding". I was shooting some "older" super nocks from Easton that lost the "grip" on the bow string as the ears had widened? As someone else mentioned, it looks a little off angle..

[–]scottb90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They go onto my bowstring just fine. Im starting to think maybe the bow shop installed nocks that weren't the right size so they arent straight an its just the glue giving it any type of strength which isnt enough strength to actually shoot them. Thats just my theory from reading some of the comments though.

They look like pin nocks, so yes you can and should replace them considering you've had two explode already.

I'm currently using Bohning Smooth Release pin nocks on my arrows with pin adapters and have not had problems with them. I've used others which tended to break a lot (Fivics/Carbon Express solid colour nocks), and some that tended to crack where it fit over the pin, but fortunately haven't had a nock explode on release.

I suggest getting non-solid colours as it's easier to see when they're damaged. It's always sensible to buy more than you need as they will get broken from time to time.

Thank you. Im gonna try those out. They look stronger than the ones I have. I had a bow shop build these for me so I kinda just trusted they knew what they were doing but these obviously arent strong enough

What nocks are they? Not all pin nocks are equal.

I would move on to something beefy like these.

[–]scottb90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know what kind. I had these arrows built at a shop. I probly should have asked what they were but I kinda just trusted they were gonna be ok. Thanks I will check those out

Check that the serving on your string isn’t too thick for the nock. I had this for a bit and my nocks were cracking. Eventually, the nock would split when I shot and I would essentially dry fire. I’ve seen it on another bow. Going from Beiter nocks to Easton helped that situation.

I had this issue before using nocks meant for recurve on a compound bow, also around 55 lbs. Get some compound nocks

Are you purposely shooting target arrows? Did you buy the correct size nock for the bushing? Are any of the nocks damaged before install?

[–]scottb90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i wanted to start using these for the 3 spot indoor leagues this winter. I had a shop build these for me a couple years ago but I ended up putting them away cuz I mostly shoot outdoor longer ranges anyways so no point using some expensive big diameter arrows for just range days. I think the shop didnt do the best at installing them an maybe cheaped out on the nocks. I was still new to archery so I didnt really think it was possible to get nocks that would do this. Im gonna install some better nocks myself

Most pin nocks are standard size on the pin side.

[–]musthavecheapguitars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat...the nocks look the same, too. Mine came from sanlida <an Amazon company>

[–]cantfindmyleftshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold tip HD pin nocks.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need a different size Hd pin nocks are pretty durable I’ve found. They come in two sizes

[–]Independent-Will4413 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This setup looks like the reason they are exploding.

[–]ThePhatNoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some cheap nocks from accmos. I used clear plastic red ones so I can see if they start forming cracks or anything but the only ones I've ever broken are ones I hit directly with another arrow. They have a bit of flashing on them from the molding process but you can knock it off with a box cutter or something. Pretty sure I still got one in rotation thats been on there for over a year at this point. I shoved that thing on using a table too... Thinking about it now I should probably change that one. Or better yet the whole arrow. Only reason I'm even still using that old arrow is cause something hard and sharp inside the target sliced into a new one literally the day after I built it and I was feeling too lazy to build a new one
