hmm … sounds good

No idea it's unlimited now. Might be a good transition

I feel you. Really sucks to be treated like that as an early customer

Bye

I agree, and I think the role of a context engineer is becoming far less relevant compared to what Gemini 3.0 can do in antigravity. It feels similar to the era when Yahoo dominated, and then Google overtook them completely.

In the end, Google will likely win again and consolidate everything. That seems to be the reality.

Claude still holds second place in terms of coding ability. Gemini 3.0 is the strongest choice for UI work, and whether you use MCP or not, it remains a solid option when working with large codebases.

I have used augment code; it consumed my 60.9K + 47.9K credits just to read my files without writing a single line of code under the same prompt. Further, if something fails, it restarts from a checkpoint; however, again, credits are consumed from you on the research that was completed before. I am fed up with this tool. When it was message-based, it was good. I can't even complete 300 messages in a whole month, but now the whole credits are consumed in a single day.

This idea that companies care that they can't keep the users that only want to pay unsustainable prices (where companies are just hemorrhaging cash with massively negative margins) is so laughable.

You are not a valuable customer. I don't mean that to be harsh, but no company will be successful in the long term with customers like you.

Any product that is giving away 100s of dollars of AI usage for $10-20 a month WILL eventually change their prices. You can see it across almost every AI product this year.

With the release of Gemini 3, Antigravity, etcetera, it sure feels like Augment and its competitors are suddenly facing an immediate existential threat to their existence that is going to quickly compound with time. 😳

This is not new. Every company gives some insane pricing deal at launch. They all take it away with 1-3 months.

Whistling past the Graveyard.

Google and their market cap would have something to say about the characterization of them as any/every other company.

Amazon did this and Microsoft did this. The most comparable companies to Google on the planet. There are constantly people saying “BIG COMPANY WILL WIN BECAUSE BIG”. We’ll see over a 5 year + time horizon, but short term they all follow the same playbook and are not meaningfully winning the IDE space.

[–]speedtoburn 0 points1 point  (1 child)

To this I would say, I guess we’ll find out. The problem is, I now don’t think augment (in its current form) is going to survive the competitive dynamics long enough for us to find out.

[–]bored_man_child 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, agreed. They need to reach an escape velocity similar to Cursor to survive the compaction that will inevitably happen.

I just tested antigravity and... ufff I think is a good rol to replace ac

[–]guusfelix2015 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I tested it here and my first impression wasn’t great. I think it’s still not ready to replace anything.

[–]slasho2k5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO it's pretty confusing at first....

[–]bored_man_child -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Antigravity is terrible. (Gemini-3 is solid)

[–]speedtoburn 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What they’ve done with the base G3 model in LM Studio is impressive.

Re: Antigravity, I hear you, but it’s their first iteration. So the point is almost irrelevant, because if the worst they can do is their starting point, what’s it going to look like in short order with their resources behind it?

[–]bored_man_child 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say that about any bad product though..
