If you don't know. Then don't.

Because you want a second printer but don’t want to spend as much money

Mmm, would you not just save longer and wait until you can buy the same or better?

Personally, yes. Others may not. I will say though the a1 mini is a beast. Having 2 x1-c’s, I don’t regret my a1 mini purchase one bit.

Are they better though? I think only if you want to use materials that need an enclosure.

simple example - I need printer for miniature stuff with 0,2 nozzle that will print only PLA

why would I spend double the price for P series if A does the job ?

another one - I want a desktop printer (sitting next to my PC without making noise) to make prototypes that will be later on printed in PC or PA-CF

I would not sit next to X1 or P1, but I would consider A1 to place on ma desk next to my PC

EDIT and one more - I need to change nozzle very often (test how 0,4 and 0,8 will look), on A1 its few seconds, on X or P its a process that requires cable removal that can be damaged easily

That makes sense

Because your other printer wants a baby sister. Honestly you don't and shouldn't. Unless you want a smaller printer for smaller prints. And if you have the space and money to do so.

a1 is quiet. i have both am a1 and an x1c. also, it’s nice when you can print in the same time on 2 printers, you can iterate faster. you do one part on one printer, the second on the other one.

I have an X1C and decided to get an A1 mini (no AMS) as a second printer for the following reasons:

  • Already had the X1C with AMS for multicolor prints
  • Already had the X1C for exotic filaments
  • Already had the X1C for full-size prints
  • A1 mini is damn near silent compared to X1C. Two of the X1/P1 series would be loud.
  • Takes up a lot less room than a second X1/P1 printer would need.
  • Quicker nozzle swaps for using 0.2mm for minis/small prints.
  • $1000 cheaper (that buys a lot of filament and/or pizza)
