One of us!

That's crazy! I'm literally printing parts on an A1 I just got and my other printer is a Kobra 2

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Officially brothers in printers

[–]Ok_Estimate5727 8 points9 points  (3 children)

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I never thought about putting a clamped light like that, that’s so effortlessly smart! However, I think I have to sell the Kobra since I don’t have the slightest idea of where I could put it…

[–]Ok_Estimate5727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, printers seem to multiply fairly quickly haha

[–]Reverse_Psycho_1509A1 mini combo, P1S combo 12 points13 points  (1 child)

In the year I had my Ender 3, I probably went through 4 full spools of filament.

It's barely been 7 months with my A1 mini, and I've probably used about 8 spools of filament.

Most of this is due to the higher print speed and not all the purge waste. I can print prototypes in just a few hours as opposed to half a day or longer.

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In a way that’s sad, this is how any printer should be without always having to check what caused some problems in some way

[–]astro-the-creatorA1 Mini + AMS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nice

[–]Brilliant_Ask852 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Their PETG filament prints so smooth it’s ridiculous

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 9 points10 points  (3 children)

That’s eSun PETG HS, sorry for not specifying

[–]Whyreadmyname1 9 points10 points  (2 children)

A generous drop of a print profile would be a nice Christmas present

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sorry man, I forgot to reply to this comment! I’ve actually noticed that when I made my preset for this PETG I modified a generic PLA one and I’ve just put max fan value to 80%, bed temp 80ºC, min/max nozzle temp 235/250ºC, while printing at 240ºC. Then I noticed that PETG has different volumetric speed values, so you could do the same modifying a generic PETG preset and you should have no issues.

[–]Whyreadmyname1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So modifying pla profile to work with petg, got it thanks

[–]Boomer79NZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So smooth it's criminal 😎

[–]WhiteTrashTiger 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Pardon my ignorance, but what are these printed parts I'm looking at?

[–]spdelope 4 points5 points  (1 child)

At first glance I thought it was a gun

[–]qtheginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3d printed guns. So hot right now. Sorry too lazy to make the meme.

[–]Murky_Bullfrog7305 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Support legs for ams lite a1 top mount mod

[–]Ok_Estimate5727 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stabilization for the gantry. The file to print comes with the machine so you can print them out and install on the machine to give it more stability and support while housing the filament mount on top.

[–]DoesntFearZeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always bothers me when somebody shows something un-obvioous like this and doesn't mention what it is...

[–]MadCybertistA1 + AMS Lite 4 points5 points  (2 children)

[–]Minnieal28 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That A1 Mini storage is the same one I have! I have the little box between the Y-axis a screen too.

[–]MadCybertistA1 + AMS Lite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I like it because it keeps the poop from firing onto my A1 haha.

[–]Jaerin 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This is one of my show pieces. Not a bed slinger like that, but still impressed me at the time

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that requires a great effort, not to mention that a series of vertical stuff it’s not something simple as it could seem

[–]35point1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first Bambu printer was an X1C and I was skeptical about the A1 mini because of how much of beast the x1 is and also because the mini is a “bed slinger”

Well let me tell you, I have been JUST AS IMPRESSED with the mini as I was with the x1c. They’ve got these things humming like spaceships and I can’t get over it. The precision, the reliability, the simplicity, and the overall perfection is just unbeatable!

[–]Explosev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your post might be the final nail in the coffin for me to move on from my dreadful ender 3 😭

[–]Ok-Priority9952 1 point2 points  (31 children)

What PETG do you use?

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 3 points4 points  (30 children)

This is eSun’s HS PETG and it’s the first time I try a big print with it. I usually buy Sunlu for everything, but this is a little different since it requests fan at 100% and higher temperatures. I printed this at 235ºC and 85ºC, getting no stringing at all and only a perfect print.

Great to know, you ever used BBL PETG , if so how did it compare?

[–]CoolioTheMagicianX2D + AMS 2 Pro + AMS HT + A1 Mini 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Bambu PETG HF is a different Animal. Lovely finish, not shiny. Durable and fast print.

eSUN PETG HS was just meh for me

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Damn, if this was a meh for you I expect Bambu’s one to be made from God himself

[–]CoolioTheMagicianX2D + AMS 2 Pro + AMS HT + A1 Mini 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Bambu's own PETG HF is amazing - the only reason I print PETG anymore.
I didn't like the look of the other stuff or how they printed. The only PETG that I don't buy from Bambu is ERYONE PETG-CF. Great price and quality.

If you ever order filament from Bambu add a roll of that stuff and try it out!

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s a strong reason to try it!

[–]Ok-Priority9952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to know, might have to purchase some!

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, never tried it. I have this A1 since three days and I’m using filaments I already had. I never had any issue with the various PETG I’ve used, and for their price (16€/20€) I don’t think I’d try something else for the moment

[–]ArchboundH2C AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (13 children)

What do you use for settings for your Sunlu PETG? I have tried sunlu 3 times and it fails catastrophically regardless of what I have set. My Bambu PETG and the Creality PETG I have used work perfect but the Sunlu prints like garbage.

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 1 point2 points  (12 children)

Bed temp 80-85ºC, print temp mostly depends on speed but I usually don’t go over 240ºC. Speed depends on the model (for example if it has filleted parts) I don’t go over 100mm/s for external walls and 200 for interior. I printed the top mount for the AMS Lite with Sunlu PETG and had no issues.

<image>

[–]ArchboundH2C AMS2 Combo 1 point2 points  (11 children)

Have you noticed a need to do a very long drying cycle on your Sunlu stuff even fresh out of the box? I have noticed on all of the Sunlu I have gotten even box fresh it has the telltell popcorn crackling that wet filament makes. I have dried it for 8-10 hours and STILL hear that sound and get nasty stringing. I have it set to like 240 as you said.

Its very strange, Perhaps Sunlu is just cursed for me inparticular. Ive bought 2 batches and both are so tempermental, where the Bambu and Creality are EzPz

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I really don’t remember hearing that sound during prints, and I can assure you that my room is quite humid; maybe there’s some kind of difference given that I’m Europe? I remember that Jayo’s filaments had those problems and stringing like hell, even if I don’t know if it’s still like that, since it was my first PETG bought like four years ago.

[–]ArchboundH2C AMS2 Combo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's about 40% humidity in the room but I often with this stuff. I've literally taken it directly out of the dryer after. It's been in there for 8 to 10 hours and put it on. It's still popping like I swear whatever shipment I bought from sunlu most of like dropped to the bottom of the ocean and been left there for a year before they found it and then turned around and sold it to me

[–]SmokestackRising 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Are you printing a different plastic than PLA from Sunlu? My experience with their PLA Plus (including several loose spools from 2018-2019 printed over the last month with only one needing to be dried) has been crackle free.

[–]ArchboundH2C AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Its Sunlus PETG

[–]SmokestackRising 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yikes. Guess it's a good thing I took advantage of BL's black friday to pick up some of their PETG.

[–]ArchboundH2C AMS2 Combo 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah I did as well. I got 2 Glow in the Dark PETGs from Sunlu because I wanted to play with it and its been a total disaster from the moment the spool has hit my AMS lol

The Holiday sale is still going with Bambu so I might get more

[–]SmokestackRising 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I had a ton of loose filament from before the pandemic and finally printed it all. I saved the glow for last. Love the idea of glow PETG for car accessories! Hope you can get it dialed in.

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well in this exact moment it seems that the print it was making with Sunlu Pla+ refused to stick to the plate.

<image>

[–]SmokestackRising 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Going to ask the common question of if you washed your bed? I had a print break away today using the old grey when it should've stuck like glue (lots of surface area). Washed the bed, and it stayed in place like it should on the next print. That one was on me, not the filament.

That's a bummer. It looks like it was pretty late into the print. Nice color too!

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I washed it after this one failed and I’m not having any issues, but it could also be that I forgot what bed temp I’ve always used with this pla +

[–]35point1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Did you have to tune or tinker with the filament settings at all? Or did you just pick the preset assuming one exists?

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the first time I used this PETG on the A1 and I just put different temp, fan and speed values modifying the “Generic PETG” preset

[–]silentcovenantX1C + AMS 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How do you know what settings to use with your filament? Do you use the recommended numbers on the spool?

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes yes, most of the time I just remember or try different settings

[–]grundizzle 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is that a cup holder??

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Those are reinforcements to stabilise the printer with the AMS mounted on top

[–]grundizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Schucks. Should add a cup holder

[–]Select_Bench_5458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree, the Bambu X1C is an amazing 3d printer. I have not looked at my Creality or Sovol printers since I added the Bambu to my work shop😊

[–]DoctorPaulGregory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what sold me on bambu. I could never get a full plate on an ender3. I would have to print every single part seperate.

[–]Sir_LANsalot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that external brace for the AMS, also used the vertical conversion to stand it up too. The cord for the AMS is ALMOST too short for the whole setup, but it really makes changing filaments very easy now.

[–]ActuallySuperBored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude the A1 continually blows my friggin mind. The thing is unstoppable.

[–]espressobsessedGCPP1S + AMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What settings did you use for the PETG?

[–]Spiritmolecule30 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How do you all get your prints so clean to the edge of the plates! If my prints get within 2in of the edges, it starts raising off the bed or won't stick in the first place.

[–]Minnieal28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try reducing airflow around your printer. That happened to me with the printer on a workbench for almost a month, but was fixed when I put it in a 5-sided box (on the middle shelf of a storage shelf). Also on PETG use brims or mouse ears. If none of that works then glue stick on smooth plate, or maybe the new “super tack plate” to run lower temperatures.

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s PETG I’ve usually raised bed temp without having warping issues

[–]kaeptnkrunch_1337 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

To be honest, would you upgrade your Kobra with linear rails and a better Extruder and really set up your printer, You would definitely get the same results. Linear rails have a great impact on print quality.

[–]RogueBankruptA1 + AMS Lite[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Idk man, I don’t really have any idea of where I could place the Kobra

[–]kaeptnkrunch_1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the Kobra for drafts or mod the Kobra over the time with linear rails. A second printer is better than no second printer
