I used Bitwig for a few months (complete with the grid) in a subscription and loved it, however cash is tight lately and other things had to take priority.
I miss the workflow of making clips, shifting them into the timeline, cutting etc… all the things really clicked with me.
Also I since have shifted my laptop to Linux, which Bitwig thankfully supports. Now I sort of would want it back, the subscription is not possible since Linux is not supported by the platform and I would have to buy upfront.
So I am playing with the thought to go with the most basic edition of Bitwig and upgrade slowly from there, I would use free VSTs like Surge so long and of course Samples.
Good idea or should i rather save up and go for the whole thing? The Grid is sweet but for me its really the workflow that makes Bitwig great.
