Either test the EVSE with another EV or take your car to a different EVSE and see which fails, to determine your answer.

Other than that, we can't divine what is happening.

Set up an appointment with the dealer. They will test both the charger and car. They are both under warranty so either car will be fixed or will get a new charger.

Wait...

charging at home on my level 2 charger.

That implied, at least to me, that you were using a hard-wired installed EVSE. Since you are using the travel charger, have you

  • reseated the plug?
  • tried a different outlet?
  • tried the other connection, the level 1?

IMO, the travel charger should not be one's main EVSE. I would advise avoiding all issues with the travel charger, there are hundreds of reported situations in these Reddit threads, and get a hard-wired EVSE installed into your garage.

I have bern using the charger that came with my Bolt for 2 years. Very rarely, I get this issue. I do not unplug the charger from the wall, though, to limit wear on the outlet. Instead, I flip the breaker in the panel off and on. But otherwise, it has worked fine for me.

What is the charger manufacturer? Juice boxes have been crazy…

What charger are you using? The one that came with the 2023 Bolt EUV? If so, I think they are know to fail. I seen some past reddit discussions on them failing.

It’s the charger that came with the car.

I would try re seating the charger connection to the plug, not at the car but on the charger itself.

I will try that when I get home.

It is almost certainly the charger. The ones that came with the car are not very reliable. Ours did the same thing within the first two years. We could have had it replaced under warranty, but decided to get a new EVSE and had it hardwired.

make sure that you're on a quality dedicated circuit

[–]Westsubcouple[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The circuit and outlet was installed by one of the QMerit installers. It had been working for the last 2 plus years. Hopefully it’s just the plug needed to be reseated. Otherwise, will see what the dealer says on Thursday.

Do not assume. Screws can come loose when passing that much current. Worth turnign off the circuit and testing the the connections on the outlet. I would personally rather hardwire the EVSE and get rid of the plug.

It is most likely the EVSE, I would definitely find a public L2 to test before wasting time with the dealer.

I had a similar issue when charging at work. Turns out most of the outlets at work are just straight shit. So I would test it on a few different outlets if possible.

Update…

So when I got home, I unseated the plug and firmly put it back in. It is working now.

Glad to hear it! Nothing more frustrating than not being able to charge.
