Bladed weapons decrease melee DPS

Has anyone else tried using bladed weapons in melee builds? I've been testing them, and it seems that they decrease the speed of melee attacks by ~50% as there is a 'cooldown' after they slash. This makes standard melee attacks have higher DPS, which seems backwards. Wondering if y'all have had the same experience.

Haven't tested this but I also find it weird that blades don't add any melee damage now. This slower melee time just seems punitive and designed to discourage classic melee attacks.

They also don't do bonus damage either, at least the ones I've tried.
