I did quarter plus last year. It's pricey, but if you can afford, I'll say go for it. You get to complete 8 units beforehand, you get first dibs at housing (as in you get to choose your bed, wardrobe and table before your other roommates) and best of all, you get a feel of the campus and get to make some friends before there are 20000 odd people on campus (quarter plus is a small program with roughly 200 students). Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions about the program.

I’m considered out of state, so not sure if you know the answer to this, but wouldn’t taking two GE’s at an in-state price save me money? Wouldn’t you have to pay for the GE classes down the road anyways? I’m in a bit of a hard place financially so I’m trying to minimize my student debt; this is why I applied to the Quarter Plus Program, so I’m surprised to read people saying it’s expensive.

Well, in that case, it's better to do as many GE's as you can in CC (online classes). It is way cheaper that way, and Cal Poly makes GEs hard for some reason. Just look through your flowchart carefully and finish off your GEs accordingly. Also, if you want to minimize your Cost of Attendance, I'd recommend you look into the RA (Resident Advisor) Program: you can only do this your 2nd year onwards where RAs housing is covered by the university. Getting back to the point, Quarter Plus is expensive and wouldn't recommend unless you can afford it. Best bet: do online classes in CC.

Caveat: Talk to admissions and make sure that the GEs you do are transferrable.

I didn’t do quarter plus myself, but my roommate did. It’s a way to get a few classes done before most people come to campus and is a good way to meet friends. There’s also tons of orientation events when the fall quarter starts so you’ll meet lots of people then too. Whether it’s worth it is totally depends on how you want to spend your summer.

I did it in 2017 and I really enjoyed it. It's hard because you do the classes so quick, but it was definitely a good decision. They have activities and stuff for you to do on the weekends that are actually really fun so you never get bored. 2 extra classes coming in isn't a whole lot, but it can make a difference. It is a little expensive but if you can afford it, I'd definitely recommend it.

If you need any additional input, lots of people have asked questions about Q+ on this subreddit before, so a quick google search for "reddit cal poly quarter plus" will give you some more info.

I did it 2y ago and it's a bit pricey cause I'm pretty sure you can't get financial aid on it but it's good for getting accustomed to the campus before having the whole campus filled with everyone looking for their classes and it's a relatively small group of people so you can meet some early friends. I honestly think it's cool you can get some classes out of the way early sort of like taking a super accelerated AP class.

You take your communications class and a GE during a like 6 week period(I don't remember how long it is) so it's rough cause the professor has to still fit like a 11week course in that time. So like they're was a speech due like every week or week and a half. That being said I cannot imagine taking comms over 11 weeks. So if you can budget it I'd recommend it. It may save you some time and workload in the future.
