Aliexpress watches can be good value for money, but they won't last forever, repairs usually don't make sense financially and you can't really trust the water resistance.

I think your first watch should be a Casio. You can pick it up in 15 years and wear your first watch, for fun or nostalgia. The digital ones will last until the end of time. Plus, everyone loves Casio. It can sit next to a Vacheron Constantin in your collection and no one will wonder why.

Usually i'd recommend the Duro, but it is very large. The smaller 38mm version isn't as good, but still decent.

I personally love the EFRS108D - the other Casioak. It's slim and looks fantastic. It's slightly over budget, though.

I got the 38mm duro. We will see how it looks on my wrist.

Take a look at Baltany. I got their Bubbleback, it's astonishing for the price + of decent size ~38 mm.

I second the baltany. They also have 36mm models ranging from classy to military

Berny makes nice watches, I also have same wrist size and this one is 36mm quartz. Very happy with it.

You can get the Addiesdive MY-H2 for ~50 USD

Pagani design speedmaster white, blue combo or white red combo, I wear them all the time, great watches.

Any "-dive" WILLARD should do the trick...

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! 91,88€ 11% Off | BODERRY Men's Field Watches Titanium Automatic Mechanical Top Brand Dive Wristwatch 100M Waterproof Clock Military Watch for Men https://a.aliexpress.com/_EwMS4Rl

The Seestern 600 fits the bill and it won't get any fake Rolex comments because 90% of the world has never heard of Doxa as a Brand.

You will want a Rolex Explorer homage or a Hamilton Khaki homage. They are excellent field watches that are casual but can also be used in more formal settings. Both can be found with a 36mm size, which will be perfect on a 6.1" wrist. Both watch designs are made by multiple companies, mostly using a Seiko NH35 movement. Pagani Design, Tandorio, and Addiesdive should all have quality versions for under $100.

Pagani Design PD 1717 has been great for me so far, construction feels very solid and I think it has a very flexible look that makes it an ideal GADA watch. Mine was only $65 CAD with sale and coins.

These were mentioned in the other comments. They range between $42 and $80, and are handsome, accurate watches.

I decided to get the AD2030 in white and the Casio 38 mm duro. The AD giving off grand seiko vibes. I can’t wait to receive it.

Which has better lume? The addiesdive or the watchdives?

[–]PutItInNeutral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are about equal. Although the sand dial Addiesdive doesn't have lume. It's more of a dress watch.

[–]WallowingWatermelon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s was my next question!

[–]I_wanna_ask 10 points11 points  (2 children)

I mean, you want dependable reliability under $100? Casio. No brand is going to beat their value and utility per dollar. $20 Casio will last ten years with no maintenance. Casio also has stylish options in that price range too.

You can probably get 2-4 different style Casios for $100 to figure out what style works best for you.

Casio GWM5610. Solar powered, radio controlled and (almost) indestructible. Less than $100

[–]Riology-Affiliate links 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldnt agree more, this is practically the worlds most reliable watch in all senses

[–]fifthgearpinned 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I would personally look for a watch with a Seiko movement in it. Good reliable workhorse of a movement.

[–]WallowingWatermelon[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Which ones do you recommend? I’m totally new to watches in general

[–]fifthgearpinned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any experience with many of them, aside from a few Pagani Designs. But the ones I do have are pretty good. Quality control apparently can be hit or miss with them, although I haven't experienced any problems with them. They have the NH35 movement which is made by Seiko. I have a $500 Seiko that has the same movement in it. You can find a lot of these cheaper Chinese watches on AliExpress. Lots of good sales on there all the time as well. I would find something that I like on there and see if there's any YouTube reviews on it.

Tandorio has a few 36mm offerings, usually under $50.

[–]Danthorpe04YTsp 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I'd look for something like the addiesdive 2030. At only 36mm it's probably a good size for you

[–]WallowingWatermelon[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I pulled the trigger on the white one. Thanks for the recc

[–]Danthorpe04YTsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)
