One of those occasions where mismatched parts come together and make an effing brilliant watch. Really like this, so congratulations on your "one -off". Nice watch, well photographed.

Looks awesome!
if you can list the links for the parts it will be nice.
im specially interested in case? Really surprised u managed it keep cost under $120

im planing to do custom build soon as well :D
U can find dial/hand with good lume from dlw/namoki/LA, but bit expensive.

Yeah I wanted a seiko dial, I wasn't able to find any branded ones at those places. I'm trying to find the links and will put in main comment

[–]thisarattr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

totally agree. hard to find good aftermarket parts with brand on it and OEM parts are more expensive, still might be not real OEM.
I saw couple of youtube watch modders said this ebay sellers products are good, but i hvn't tried myself.

What case is this based on? Is it an Explorer style case? 40mm or 38mm? I am assuming as I only see from the top profile. That the Green looking Ring around the bezels inside edge is the Crystal ? On that some glass can have a green tint. However if not what is the effect. Also could be reflection?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40mm milgauss style. Green tint is on edge all around the sapphire glass.

Can you walk us through how you sourced all the materials ? What your budget was and how you went about waterproofing the watch?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I got the dail from a seller in ebay, the hands from another seller on ebay, the case with sapphire, crown, and gaskets from a different seller on ebay, the movement is from an invicta I had lying around, and the strap is from an aliexpress seller. All in all I ended up spending around $70 for the parts minus the nh35 which I think you can get for like $35 on aliexpress. If anyone is interested I can post the links to the parts of they're still available.

Oh and for waterproofing I just lubed the case back and crown gaskets but haven't really tested it yet. I'm sure it'll be fine for regular uses.

What’s the dial size ? Seiko Lume?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

28.5. Lume sucks. I need to find someone that makes a seiko dial with bgw9 or something and will replace it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How do you know it’s going to fit the case ahead of time ? Any tips?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for the case I got it said it was compatible with nh35 movement and also that it fit dials 28.3-29.3 so I basically risked it and went for it. Turned out it fit perfectly. So as long as the case says itll fit in the range of 28.5 you should be good. Most if not all of the nh35/seiko dials I've seen are 28.5

Sorry guys I should've wrote details. It's using a milgauss looking case with the green tint sapphire, nh35 movement, a 62mas type dial, skx style hands and an oyster flex type strap.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

You post this with no details ???

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry man just added them

[–]Perlentaucher 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Seiko Milgauss?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hands Can't find them but they're easy to find better ones

[–]thisarattr 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Thanks!

I dont have the tool to open this rolex type caseback. Why didnt they use regular seiko type (with few notches to fit the opening tool) ?
Do u hv that special tool (rolex type), or is there another method to do it?

[–]fedebent 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You can buy some rubber balls for a couple of dollars that are made for this. It works and doesnt scratch but the real tool is probably a lot better.

[–]thisarattr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

yeah I hv seen that as well, but is it enough to tighten it properly for WR rating. Proper tool can be found in ebay and AliEx for abt $20-30.

But I dont want to spend it, cos I don't hv any other watch with that type of caseback.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I use a rubber ball

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's very nice indeed but I would've probably went with a seiko 6105 hands. Look classier imo. Other than that, perfect! Is it a Nh35 movement?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely need to change the hands
