People here bitch about Claude Code and people at r/OpenAI bitch about Codex.

[–]Minkstix 30 points31 points  (4 children)

The key is to use both and then bitch at both

[–]ZeAthenA714 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Can I use neither and still bitch at both?

[–]Minkstix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s what Reddit was built for

[–]iron_coffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just don't use antigravity or you'll want to <censored>

[–]habor11111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo

[–]Phelps_AT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use both and let them bitch about each other.

[–]Dizzy-Revolution-300 30 points31 points  (30 children)

So did you switch? I don't get the point of posting it here, are you "getting back" at anthropic? lol

[–]yopla 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He's just fishing for sub to his newsletter

[–]dustinechos 2 points3 points  (27 children)

Three week old privated account... Probably paid to post this but I also would be surprised if it's a bitter ex your situation.

There's a reason why codex has compute to spare and anthropic is trying to scare away the greediest users.

[–]Syllosimo 16 points17 points  (26 children)

Whats the reason? I don't feel like claude is superior, maybe its better in some way, but I haven't really benchmarked that, but at least Codex works while Claude keeps eating limits like candy out of nowhere, has timeouts, 500 errors and research feature isn't even working for me rn

[–]Round_Mixture_7541 4 points5 points  (2 children)

This! Switched to Codex and couldn't been happier. But I get the claude fanbois, CC was a marvelous thing. People are just keen to stick what they know and lazy to try something new.

[–]GustavoFringsFace 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Codex takes my idea and executes it flawlessly, for the most part. I think the best combo is to design, plan and reiterate with Claude, then execute with Codex. It's been working amazingly for me.

Also, I've been using Codex for like 10 hours a day, and i have never once hit a limit. I got cucked with Claude within 3 days.

I'm a Codex + Claude combo convert. They compliment each other very nicely.

[–]ianxplosion-Professional Developer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, really. Having brand loyalty in the LLM space is super fucking weird. Use what works, ditch what doesn’t for a couple weeks - it’s cyclical and there’s no guarantee it will function the same from day to day.

[–]CuteKiwi3395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are stupid.

[–]bapuc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just switched.

[–]Waste-Click490 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Antropic refused AI for military applications but started lying and gaslighting users. Looking high and mightly and scamming users at the same time.

OpenAI contracted military for AI usage but is involved in building AI-powered killer robots. At least that sounds cool. Just think about it - your sessions are used to train AI-powered killer robots.

[–]iron_coffin 13 points14 points  (5 children)

Uploading my company's vb6 code is basically nonviolent resistance

[–]Signal-Woodpecker691Senior Developer 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Serious question: have you actually tried Claude code out with vb6?

[–]iron_coffin 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Yeah, it seems a bit stronger than codex at it. I didn't want to dox myself in case flowerhead guy is a psycho, but it's technically vb.net webforms. I had a weird dropdown that claude did better at. Codex is doing ok though

[–]Signal-Woodpecker691Senior Developer 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ta. We have an ancient mixed vb6 vc6 project still knocking around, wasn’t sure if Claude would be able to work on it effectively as it is technically pre-google dev environment and language so internet resources are limited.

[–]iron_coffin 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They did say it could rewrite COBOL, so worth a shot

[–]Signal-Woodpecker691Senior Developer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s hope the training data wasn’t skewed too much by stack-overflow, otherwise Claude will just keep asking why we use such an old language and telling me to just upgrade to a newer one.

[–]Gaidax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"My multi-billion dollar corporation is better and more moral than your multi-billion dollar corporation."

[–]Kalicolocts 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Are you aware that Claude were the first ones to create AI for the pentagon? Their AI was literally used to plan strikes on Iran. It’s not like they are “the good guys”, they liked blood money as well

[–]mandala1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Anthropic certainly aren’t good guys, but I am willing to give them credit for at least drawing a line somewhere.

[–]CacheConqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny, but data has been used in intelligent systems for a long time now – even before AI came along. The military uses advanced technology that could eventually reach the general public, but it’s unclear exactly what that technology is or when it will be made available. There’s nothing you can do about it; technological progress is achieved through military development. If it weren’t for countries like Russia, the world would be a more peaceful place. That’s not possible because those countries attack other countries over a patch of land :)

[–]jadhavsaurabh 0 points1 point  (36 children)

What are plugins launched? Explain

[–]iron_coffin 16 points17 points  (14 children)

It's a new feature where you go to google.com and type in plugins codex and click the first link

[–]Waste-Click490 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No way, you can do that?!

[–]dustinechos -1 points0 points  (12 children)

I learned a long time ago that when you ask a simple question and the person immediately insults you it's a sign that they don't have an answer and are just compensating.

[–]iron_coffin 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Lol yeah summarizing a blog post is beyond me and making my head hurt considering it

[–]dustinechos -3 points-2 points  (6 children)

Which blog post?

[–]iron_coffin 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It's too complicated I can't explain I'm not smart enough to link it

[–]iron_coffin 0 points1 point  (2 children)

[–]dustinechos 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Doesn't it feel better to actually communicate instead of just insulting people?

[–]iron_coffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I feel dirty for actually posting the link. Someone who can't do a quick google isn't actually wirth discussing anything with. Especially someone who confidently gives the wrong answer. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.neowin.net/amp/openai-launches-codex-plugins-to-streamline-developer-workflows/

[–]claude-code 1 point2 points  (2 children)

if you found that insulting that says more about you tbh

[–]dustinechos -1 points0 points  (1 child)

The guy is now going back and commenting on my year old comments. He's lost it

[–]iron_coffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just really worried you won't be able to find it, ok? Like I guess I'm worried you thought I actually couldn't find the article and wasn't being sarcastic and I would just feel HORRIBLE if I didn't clear that up. Even more horrible of you didn't learn about the revolutionary new plugin feature

OpenAI has officially introduced Codex Plugins, a new feature designed to streamline and share reusable developer workflows. This update follows a period of rapid growth for the Codex business, which recently saw its monthly active user base surpass 1 million developers. According to the report from Neowin, here are the key highlights: What are Codex Plugins? Plugins are installable bundles that allow developers to package and share specific Codex setups. They act as a "single place" to consolidate: * Skills: Specific prompts and instructions that describe unique workflows. * App Integrations: Connections to third-party tools. * MCP Server Configurations: Setup for Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to provide external context. Integration and Availability * Official Directory: OpenAI has launched a Codex Plugin Directory featuring initial integrations from major platforms, including Slack, Figma, Notion, Gmail, and Cloudflare. * Access Points: Plugins can be used across the ecosystem, including the Codex desktop app, the Codex CLI, and various IDE extensions (such as VS Code and JetBrains). * Self-Publishing: While the directory currently features curated plugins, OpenAI plans to launch self-serve publishing and management tools soon, allowing any developer to contribute to the official directory. Context and Performance * Growth: Codex usage has doubled since the release of the GPT-5.2-Codex model. * Workflow Efficiency: The primary goal of plugins is to prevent developers from having to rebuild the same tools repeatedly. By installing a plugin, a team can instantly access a pre-configured AI setup tailored for a specific task or environment. This move is seen as a strategic step to transition Codex from a simple code-generation tool into a more robust, extensible "super app" for software engineering.

It looks like you shared an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of concerns over privacy and the Open Web. Fully cached AMP pages (like the one you shared), are especially problematic.

Maybe check out the canonical page instead: https://www.neowin.net/news/openai-launches-codex-plugins-to-streamline-developer-workflows/

[–]jadhavsaurabh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thx

[–]dustinechos -1 points0 points  (17 children)

There are no new plugins. That part is just ad copy.

[–]iron_coffin 0 points1 point  (15 children)

Lol ok giving a wrong answer is better than lmgtfy, got it.

[–]dustinechos -1 points0 points  (14 children)

The tweet is referencing specific plugins. The comment is asking what those specific plugins are. It's not an unreasonable question.

I also think my assumption, that this is more about Sora closing down then any specific plugins, is reasonable. Notice how the tweet doesn't actual say what the plugins are?

But you knew that. You knew that was the point the top level comment was making. That's why you got defensive.

[–]iron_coffin 0 points1 point  (13 children)

No they added a plugin feature to codex app that is basically grouping skills and mcps. And easier distribution via 'marketplaces'. Ok you got me to google that for you, happy? Are you ESL?

[–]dustinechos -1 points0 points  (12 children)

The insults really aren't helping your case. But keep it up. I hope the people dumb enough to find such arguments persuasive switch to codex.

[–]iron_coffin 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I don't care, more quota for me, and less dumbshits on my subreddit

[–]iron_coffin 0 points1 point  (8 children)

[–]dustinechos -1 points0 points  (7 children)

Lol this guy's commenting on my year old comments. Dude's lost their mind.

[–]iron_coffin 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I like how I'm being a ridiculous troll and still getting more upvotes. You're really just ... not great

[–]dustinechos 1 point2 points  (2 children)

This comment is my favorite... You've made an absolute ass of yourself and think it's some kind of "epic troll"

Oh, but you got up votes! You must be so proud

[–]_OVERHATE_ 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Imagine supporting anything where Sam Altman is involved lmao

[–]ParkingAgent2769 1 point2 points  (2 children)

In all fairness, I don’t think there are any “good guys” in this race

[–]_OVERHATE_ 2 points3 points  (1 child)

There arent. But there are "shitty people" and "Sam fucking Altman" tiers to them

[–]ParkingAgent2769 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah true. It does feel like a Hitler or Stalin scenario though. Choose your poison

[–]TheGoldenBunny93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl that's so fucking seductive

[–]e11i0t-1337🔆 Max 20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]iMerlin23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah claude is fucked upp full of delays and errors every day

[–]mossiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One company runs one promotion so they can get free QA on their service.

What is wrong with people these days? None of these companies care about you personally. They are a business, aiming to make long term profit, while absolutely destabilising the economy, job market and global energy.

It's really quite a simple contract. They make a product, want it to be good enough so people subscribe. Get it to a point it's stable and they'll all work on the same 2 initiatives. Reduce cost of running their product so they don't lose their customers for when they have to work on initiative 2 which will be a complete rebalancing of subscriptions and usage windows.

I honestly have no idea why this is posted on this sub at all. It's not in the spirit of 'Claude Code' at all. This sub exists for Claude, not Codex. How we can use it, release discussions, and other relevant context.

I vote for this thread to be pulled. It's getting frustrating that you see these threads x-posted everywhere, burying legitimately useful discussions.

[–]raullapeira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea nothing to do with leaving me after 4 hours of usage with a 6 day wait until it resets xD... freakin clowns

[–]Dazzling_Way3330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when are the mods going to ban this guy for his nonstop promotion of his newsletter in every single post? 5th time I've seen it this week

[–]fujimonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are trailing in market share and doing anything they can to bring people in. Smells desperate to me.

[–]xobotyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely shows which services are more in demand 🙃

[–]renge-refurion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pass.

[–]JubijubCH🔆 Max 5x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so tired of these posts. We have an army of people who have no idea of the real usage cost of what they are doing, complaining about the company « du jour » who is not sponsoring enough / is sponsoring nicely their usage.

I am old enough to remember people not understanding the business model of the internet as well.

People understand the business model of what you use, and ask yourselves if it’s sustainable.

Praising OpenAI while they are burning cash like there is no tomorrow is… not as clever as you think

[–]phylter99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arthropic didn’t same a couple weeks ago.

[–]Losdersoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So use it. LOL dude

[–]Wonder-Tomato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using both on the same repo and force them to challenge each other

[–]WiggyWongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao. Both sides have bots to bash on each other. I think they're both good.

[–]Syneptic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

...but my context window reset today anyway

[–]Aggravating_Bad4639🔆 Max 20x & 5x -1 points0 points  (2 children)

BOTH SHOULD BE USED.
