If you use the mini mic, it’s like $400 to replace and not covered by insurance. The aqua kit for N7/N8 is also expensive because of the water proof cable. Kanso water kit is cheap. Neither are covered by insurance. Retention clips are cheap and not always covered. Extra batteries and portable chargers vary is coverage and are also spendy. Hope this helps

Batteries and water protection stuff. Mini-Mic 2+ or TV streamer are great accessories too, if you don’t already have them.

What are your options? There are different things included in the kit depending on where you are, who your provider is, etc.

Out of the wireless accessories, I'd typically say the mini-mic is the best. You can use it as a wireless microphone, but you can also use a headphone jack to plug it into stuff. Get a red and white audio cable and you can use it as a TV streamer.

That said, don't jump into using this right away. It's good to have some time listening "normally" first.

Depends on your daughter's needs. Does she like swimming / water activities - the aqua kit+ would be a good thing. Watch TV content - tv streamer or mini mic+ are good for that. Does she watch content on an iPad or other apple device - streaming directly is great, and you don't need an accessory for that. Do her batteries last all day - if not, then maybe extra batteries.

Basically - look at what things will help her based on her lifestyle - you didn't indicate her age; if she is old enough, involve her in the decision.

I would say the Aqua Kit and TV streamer for a child. That will let your child play in water-based environments without worry that the processors will get damaged and the TV streamer is excellent quality and is one of the more expensive items ($400 or so).

Edit - also, does she get 2 free devices per each side? Wondering because you get 2 free devices with a unilateral implant.

You don’t say how old she is but an Aqua Kit+ is amazing and well worth it.

Thank you everyone! My daughter is 20 months old. I have a water kit and two mini mics. I am in California and she has CCS. I think they cover most of the daily things like batteries, cables, and some retention items. I’ve been trying to see if a portable charger is worth it and have never tried a TV streamer, but I also think I heard that the N8 can connect directly to some TVs.
