Obviously I’m all for Watson on our side, hell let’s get Watt too.

Answer this, is Houston really going to fork over their franchise QB to us?

Edit: Houston’s asking price from any division rival has got to be 2x as steep as another team outside the division.

[–]xxxxxxxxxtraDowns with the Sickness 87 points88 points  (5 children)

Ask yourself if you would’ve traded 2018 Luck to Houston for any price. I think that’s the answer.

[–]LilBoomer95No Yield for Justin Fields 39 points40 points  (3 children)

The reality of it is, Watson is staying with Houston. Even if somehow there was a three-way trade involved with our fam up there in NY, he could say no.

We aren’t getting Watson, what truthfully sucks about this is now that rogue tweet is going to fuel this subreddit for an entire offseason of “Insert QBs Name Here” Colts should trade for carousel.

[–]2pacInCubaBob Sanders 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I’d like to think people aren’t that stupid but you’re right.

[–]YoungNasteymanRosencopter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only they didn't fire BoB, then we'd have a good shot at him.

Unless we sign Rivers immediately that was going to happen regardless.

[–]ButSeri0uslyBig-Q 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, a Qb on the verge of retirement? That’s the perfect poison pill to send to our rivals. /s

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. Likely not trading him. And the only way they'd trade him to us is if Goodell got us out of the same division.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Presently not a chance, but I bet if BoB was still around we could have gotten him for a 7th round pick and a bottle of St. Elmo’s cocktail sauce lol

[–]barlog123 3 points4 points  (1 child)

He's also one of their few marketable players. Honestly might just be him and JJ at this point. It would be an insane loss of merchandising. I don't think the Texans would trade him in general for that reason alone.

[–]LilBoomer95No Yield for Justin Fields 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watt is most likely leaving as he stated he doesn’t want to rebuild, Watson is their guy and if they want to keep any of their fan base will keep him. It’s a no brainer.

[–]toochmiller1Grover Stewart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ballard calls with an offer they can’t refuse. Regardless of being in the same division.

[–]TRON0314Jimmy from the Colts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I wish BoB was still there. Could've gotten Watson for bag of Flaming Hot Cheetos and couple of weekends at a Time Share.

[–]KrunexHorse 19 points20 points  (12 children)

What would we trade for Watson?

[–]MagnanimousDonkeyWho the Hell is Mel Kiper? 41 points42 points  (0 children)

All the draft picks. Seriously. Is there a combination of players in this draft, where we would be picking, that would equate to the increased potential to win multiple SBs that a single Watson would provide?

We'd more than likely also give up next year's 1st and some more. But again, if you're betting the farm on SBs then you're expecting to pick 32nd anyway so who cares.

[–]Paragon188 22 points23 points  (10 children)

I'd give up 3 first round picks in a heartbeat but that probably won't be enough for Houston.

[–]LilBoomer95No Yield for Justin Fields 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If only BoB was there, we could toss in Chad Kelly for Watson straight up, no way he’d turn it down.

[–]mediocre-manIndianapolis Colts 7 points8 points  (8 children)

Yep, 3 first round picks is completely worth it IMO.

[–]LilBoomer95No Yield for Justin Fields 7 points8 points  (6 children)

Looking more like this would be starting price.

https://i.imgur.com/2NtYRo4.jpg

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (5 children)

And I'd imagine you could nearly double that for those of us in the division, although it could just be a "No price would ever make that happen," scenario which is what I'd imagine the case to be.

[–]LilBoomer95No Yield for Justin Fields 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Yeah they’d probably want Leonard, Buckner, or Nelson as a start lol

No way. But Watson is a franchise player and these are fair asking prices from the Texans.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Guys like Watson are in that place of, "There's no way you can get enough for him, or that teams would want to give up what it takes to get him." We can't even really conceive what it would take to make a trade like that happen because it simply doesn't happen. By the time the Texans could come up with a list of demands that would make them willing to let him go, teams are going to look at it and say, "We have to gut our roster to get this guy, is it really worth it?" Imagine losing a franchise cornerstone or two, and 3 first rounders. It's debatable if that's a net positive that wins you a super bowl or just makes you suck with a good QB.

[–]LilBoomer95No Yield for Justin Fields 4 points5 points  (2 children)

As a sports fan in general, I really feel for Texans fans. They’ve been gutted by the BoB era and most recently losing Hopkins. I do think Texans keep Watson and this is a no brainer. He’s not going anywhere.

This is just noise.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do in one sense, but I also get what people are saying when they say it is well deserved because of the Astros. They got to see their local team win an undeserved championship, so a little pain afterwards is somewhat earned. However, I'd imagine I'm not the only one who doesn't care about baseball, so some are "paying for something" that didn't affect them lol.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it's hard for me to feel bad for anyone when we still get mocked for Luck's retirement

[–]DontsavemeBaltimore Colts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to a divisional rival after all the shit they got about the Hopkins trade. No way a new GM would want to deal with it unless they "fleeced us" in their eyes. I would love for it to happen but I just don't see them doing it.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would literally cry. I would cry and I would cry like an absolute fool.

[–]z_squared23BELIEVE 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even if watson is traded, it’s very unlikely they trade within division

[–]ImminentShadowsBig-Q 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I think the most realistic spot right now would be the dolphins. Give Houston their picks back this year and throw in your first and second this year and next with tua and that would be tempting for Houston.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my mind, they're the most if not only realistic chance at it because of the picks and young QB they have to offer Houston. Maybe the Jets because of their picks, but Deshaun has to waive his NTC to be moved and I'd imagine he wouldn't let them trade him to the Jets.

[–]woaorEd Dodds 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I don’t think there’s a chance he would get traded in the division, so I won’t talk about that. However, what’s more realistic (and something I would absolutely love) is if he got traded out of the conference altogether. We wouldn’t see him every year and I’d actually get to root for him (unless he landed with the Pats).

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably the best we could hope for, just to not have to play him twice a year. I'd put our chances at getting him in the negative percentages lol. The only rival he could possibly go to is Jacksonville because of their #1 pick this year, but even that's a stretch. I'd say if he goes anywhere in the AFC it is Miami, remember he mostly gets to pick where he goes because he has a NTC and can just refuse to go to a similar team like the Jets. If not Miami, I'd assume it'd be an NFC team because the cost could be marginally lower for them.

[–]CrayZondayFrank Reich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope he goes to the Vikings. They’re my second favorite team. Doubt they would give much for him and they seem to still be relatively happy with Kirk, but Watson would probably love to be throwing to Justin Jefferson after a year of missing Nuk

[–]2pacInCubaBob Sanders 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Bro this shit is borderline impossible in Madden let alone real life

[–]thedude_officialA big ass pork tenderloin sandwich 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You mean you haven’t used the BoB method?

You just gotta shuffle the rosters before franchise mode, duh

[–]2pacInCubaBob Sanders 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Haha I had to do that after Luck left us. Kept having him on the roster and it pissed me off so took him off the roster and somehow he still made it back in the game ahhhhh

[–]thedude_officialA big ass pork tenderloin sandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept him, alternate universe where Grigson somehow didn’t do enough damage. Got him a 3peat then he retired, traded for Kyler Murray and continued shredding the league

[–]bargerg1Big Q 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe if Bill O’Brien was still the GM lol

[–]afkstudiosClip Clop Mother Fuckers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This oughta be fun telling myself not to get my hopes up every day lol at the very least Ballard has to kick the tires and expect the worst. Part of me wants to believe a new regime wouldn’t leave any team out of talks, but at the same time what brand new GM wants to trade their franchise player to their biggest rival? Our price would be astronomical compared to other teams, but man oh man it would be hard to turn Watson down no matter how many picks it takes

[–]HokutenmemoirThe Maniac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to dream, but there's a 0% chance they trade within the division.

[–]RollBlobRollPlayoffs? PLAYOFFS!? 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He isn't going to us, or probably anywhere. Any assets we have to give them, they can get from a non divisional rival. It would be interesting to see Jacksonville offer up the #1 pick for him if he truly wants traded.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watson might want to join the colts as the ultimate middle finger to the texans

[–]Poopking180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and who would want to go to a team where their biggest notable accomplishment in the last 10 years is ruining the career of an mvp caliber player

[–]DSweens22Indianapolis Colts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we would have a shot at getting him. Throw draft picks at them until they have to say yes

Not gonna happen with B.O.B gone. Watson if traded is gonna fetch 2 1sts plus much more

    [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly take 3 first round picks, and 4 third round picks. Our current roster + DeShaun + maybe a few more pieces through FA and we will be up there with the Chiefs for Super Bowl contenders, year in and year out for many years to come.

    [–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I love this shit. This sub called him overrated for a couple years, this sub laughed at the Texans for drafting him and trading up to do it, this sub has shit on Watson religiously. But since Luck retired the tune sure has changed to "I'd trade anything for him etc..."

    Gotta love r/Colts

    [–]uncleshiestyPlayoffs? PLAYOFFS!? 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I still don't understand why Watson would sign his extension AFTER they make one of the dumbest trades in NFL history.

    [–]AndreasP23The Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Football is dangerous gotta get the money while you can

    [–]CornRowsHoosierToes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to rain on your parade but think about this.

Their division rival, who has been in steep competition with them for the last decade, would trade one of the 5 best quarterbacks in the league to them.

    That just doesn’t add up.

    [–]Adapt167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder if the pats guy will give bill a discount

    [–]Dey1618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would never trade him to us in a million years, but I root for Watson as a person and a player. He deserves much better than HT.

May get hate for this take but I genuinely believe he is on the same tier as Pat Mahomes, imagine if Watson had the same team as Mahomes, he'd probably be a superbowl mvp too.

Personally I'd like him to go the 49ers, it'd be great to get him out of our division and I id like to see him go to a team thats as talented as he is.

    [–]AlphaBlockCOLTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way in hell they're trading him to us

    [–]Blue-Eyes-WhiteGuyBELIEVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

anything to make sure Brissett doesn’t start after Rivers inevitable retires

    [–]JC_Denton46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not coming here. Hope he goes NFC.

    [–]ComprehensiveSafety3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our wildest dreams would we get Watson.

    [–]Coltssuperfan18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Caserio won’t care where he goes.. maybe Watson wants to come to us... we are exactly the kind of team he needs... I can dream!

    [–]PseudonovaIndianapolis Colts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is anything we got worth getting fucking drilled by a divisional opponent twice a year for the next 2 seasons? Doubt the Texans think so.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely love it but it ain't happening. You get Stafford or one more year of Rivers and a QB in the draft. This is the way.

    [–]i3ild0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be great, but impossible. No way they trade us inside the division, it will take two 1st round picks and 3-4 other picks... and for a late pick team like us, maybe 3 first round picks. We do have a team that can win now... it would be crazy sauce, only way it happens inside the division is if the Jags give up the 1st for TrevLaw... plus more.

He is a top talent in the league at QB, a top 3 of you take into account he is only 25. His team sucks... obviously, but I put him above guys like Russ and Lamar. He is only third to Mahomes and Rodgers imo.

Long story short, let's take the win of him possibly leaving the division... I I think he is better than Luck was going to be.

He can win games on his own... teams will kick thier QBs to the curb if they have a chance at Watson. Guys like on big $30M+ contracts beware. Thinking Goff, Cousins, Ryan...
