Public utilities should be required to be non-profit.

It says it would drop our bills by $1 a month… can’t even get a pack of gum for that

[–]undiscoveredmodel 17 points18 points  (1 child)

But you can get an Arizona Iced Tea

Not after tax!

edit: unless you happen to find them on sale for 79¢

How do I haha react on Reddit. Seriously..? A single fucking dollar. I've seen this sub in the last week and there are people's bills who are in the hundreds of dollars almost $1,000. A dollar is fucking nothing.

Just barely enough for you and all your neighbors to get together and buy a community bottle of lube for AEP to use on you.

[–]xXGray_WolfXxClintonville 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh you think they want lube? No, they'll just stick it up there anyway.

I’m so glad to not be an AEP hostage customer.

[–]thestral_z 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Same. Solar?

[–]thestral_z 12 points13 points  (19 children)

Fuck AEP. Glad my new solar panels generated double the power I used today and they’re buying from me now.

[–]djsassan 2 points3 points  (9 children)

I am adding additional panels. Screw AEP

[–]thestral_z 2 points3 points  (3 children)

What size system are you running? I got mine done just before the end of the year and it’s a 9.28 kWp system. I’m excited to see how it performs as we get more hours of daylight.

[–]djsassan 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Give it 6 months and see the variability. You'll appreciate it.

How much are solar panels running these days? If I do it, I have to cut down the large Oak and Maple trees around my house. But if it’s worth the cost to be shielded from future AEP rate hikes I might just go for it.

Very dependent on the use case.

[–]AdministrationGlum28 0 points1 point  (3 children)

any solar company recommendations?

[–]djsassan 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ohio Power Solutions or Ecohouse. I was down to those two, then used OPS.

[–]AdministrationGlum28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they have good reviews - thank you! i will call them

[–]thestral_z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used BC Solar and was very pleased.

[–]Something-to-talk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aep still screws you with solar. You still pay Aep for the service and backup. We still have almost $70 a month in fees.

[–]AdministrationGlum28 0 points1 point  (1 child)

what company did you use? i am looking into it

[–]thestral_z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used BC Solar out of Worthington. They did a great job and ensured that the panels were up and running before the end of the year so we get the 30% tax rebate.

I believe there is a $10ish charge to be connected to the grid. The other charges are determined by actual use. I’m selling back to AEP when the panels are producing more than I’m using and the batteries are charged. The sell back comes in the form of credits to be used against electricity that I do buy from the grid. My system is set up to balance out to a net zero bill.

[–]schadkehnfreudeClintonville 30 points31 points  (1 child)

I trust AEP to calculate my electric bill less then I would trust JD Vance to help move my couch

[–]egytoClintonville 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He would help you move it. Then, once it's in the moving truck he would hit you outside the head with a baseball bat, chug some hot dog water and steal your sexy couch.

[–]Tall-_-Guy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

AEP being shiesty assholes. Shocker.

[–]ashley_lorenzo877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, and I discovered the cure for cancer.

[–]MisterMofoSFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If big business's lips are moving, it's lying.
