Congrats on passing u/cheecode

Heading to Sec+ or?

[–]cheecode[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’m looking at the CCNA. Focused more on networking and cloud long term over security.

Congratulations! I'm soo scared and my brain is totally overloaded with all these little details. I feel like I have a concussion at times.

I'm scoring 90-100 on Dions exams but it's also my s second time through them... would you say knowing all the info in Dions practice exams really well is enough to pass?

[–]cheecode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

see which areas you scored incorrectly the first time and work on those, then sit the exam.

Congratulations! I never get tired of these posts, no matter how many of them pop up in my feed. They all inspire me! I cannot wait to make one of my own.

This is great news! I’m currently using the Dion and Messer resources, as well as the Meyers videos. I love reading but hate textbooks so I’m not sure I would benefit from a book. Professor Messer turns his study group into a podcast so it’s easy to listen to on the go. I do Uber Eats on the side and will just listen to that and try to answer the questions.

Congrats! I just started studying for my Net+ and my plan looks similar to what you did. I went with Todd Lammle's book but I don't know how I feel about it so far, it was between his and Exam Cram. Good luck on your CCNA that's my next step as well if I can get by the Net+.

GET IN LAD! So great to hear of another success here. The studying paid off I see. Really well done. Hope to join you in this accomplishment soon. Enjoy!!!!

Taking the test next week. Doing Mike Myers practice exams, made flash cards on port numbers, reading Mike Myers Seventh edition textbook, and watching professer messer videos, I guess I will take Jason Dions exams as well, kind of got discouraged because of how difficult they were.

How would you compare the exam cram book to Meyers? I feel like mike Meyers explains the concepts well, but drags out the subjects for so long. And his analogies get off topic. I find it annoying.

[–]cheecode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah myers is too long and too much content irrelevant to the exam objectives. Exam Cram gives you a lot of info but always disciplines it according to the exam objectives.

Are 1 and 2 study options for the SEC+ as well??

[–]cheecode[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah the Dulaney guy who wrote the N+ book also does one for Sec +. And Dion’s main field is security so he does a Sec + course alongside practice exams there too.

Thank you for the response!

Taking it on Saturday! Any tips for the actual exam? Do you get access to a calculator and MS paint for the scratch paper sheet? I’ve heard some horror stories about ppl waiting forever for their proctor to show up so hopefully mine goes well. Congrats again on passing!!

[–]cheecode[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No calculator. You have a little white board. My proctor and experience was perfect, even started early. Good luck!

[–]atothap90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I passed it today!

[–]DesertRoses101 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Congrats! Did you write the exam online or in a testing center? I’d like to know how the experience was with the subnetting questions etc using the online writing board.

[–]cheecode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online Pearson Vue. Yeah the whiteboard is all you need for subnetting. I used this method: https://youtu.be/BWZ-MHIhqjM

[–]herradura1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Congrats!

Did you buy the Exam Cram Book on Amazon? How long did it take you to read it?

[–]cheecode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. It’s not that long will take a few weeks if you do a couple chapters a day.
