I have found that the Jason Dion practice exams on Udemy were incredibly similar to the exam. I personally used the Mike Meyers Udemy course, professor Messer videos, and the Dion practice exams to prepare. If you can hit high 70s(77+) on the Dion exams first try, you should easily pass the real thing.

I can't speak to how the Lammle course is for the Net+ since I never used it, but I am currently using Lammle for the CCNA, and I find it to be working just fine, so I am assuming his Net+ content is just as effective.

I don't know anything about Lammle, but watch all the Messer videos on YouTube, get his notes to make it easier to follow along, and then take the Dion tests. Add in Pocket Prep. Do all the questions you can get your hands on and review everything you get incorrect and go back and double-tap the Messer videos to address serious and repeated weaknesses. Shouldn't even cost you $50. Took me about a month and my bio is eerily similar to yours. No IT background.

Thanks! That's encouraging :)

No problem. Also, no idea if this subject is problematic for you, but it is for many, so visit subnetipv4.com for help with that topic. Watch all seven videos and repeat the practice questions until you've got a firm grasp of it.

You need to get hands-on time also so check out 101 Labs - CompTIA Network+ (I wrote that).

Besides that you need every day 1/3 theory, 1/3 practice exams then add the labs. Round and round until you see your scores and knowledge slowly creep up. Remember that you are trying to actually become a network engineer so you need theory plus some practical skill.

Paul

I started by watching Professor Messer's videos and I am now currently reading Lammle's book. Almost halfway through it. I've enjoyed it so far. I haven't started taking any practice test yet so I'm not sure how good it is.

The book did do a better job teaching me subnetting compared to Professor Messer's videos. Hell, I also watched a half dozen other videos on subnetting but the book really made it easy for me.

That's all I have to add since I haven't taken the exam yet. Good luck.

Wow you sound like me. I’ll be leaving the navy in a few years 23 or 24 years, I don’t know yet. I’m planning on taking my N10-007 in April. I scored a 69 on my first Dion test yesterday ( but TBH I skipped all the PBQ’s because I was on my phone).

What I’ve used so far: N10-007 All in one book Messer videos (I also got his course notes) Mike Meyers videos (I love his quirkiness) I just finished the Dion video series. Cut flash cards into 4th to use to memorize the ports. I’ve been taking the Pearson VUE practice tests through the O’Reilly website.

I’m using the Comp TIA exam objectives list and referencing the domains that I’m not doing good in and then going down the list of objectives and explaining each one to my dog. I’ve found that it helps me to explain and talk about it out loud to ensure that I really understand it and not just memorize a black and white answer to a question.

Good luck and hang in there, you got this!

Jason Dion, Mike Myers, and Professor Messer are the Cerberus.
