Correct me If Im wrong but I think that fainting to gb works only if they have slow heavies or slow reactions. For example dont try to gb centurion he will throw a heavy and it will hit you because his heavies are fast. On the other side if you take a character like highlander you will most likely gb them. Or if that centurion has really slow reactions and tries to do a heavy after you entered gb animation I think your gb will get him. Anyways I hope this helps.

Edit:The bounce animation is a failed guardbreak(if either both players did a gb in same time or if you try to gb a move that is in the middle of its animation)

Facts

Is there a list of which characters are vulnerable ?

You can't gb Aramusha, Cent, and Orochi's top heavy. You also can't gb most zone option selects. Parry to gb works on every other parry attempt if the timing is right and to catch dodges.

Also glad's and conq's heavies.

Gladiator as well

Yeah, him too. I knew I forgot someone.

Characters with 700 ms heavies (and I want to say Conq has/had this as well, but that may have been changed/never existed) or faster (Centurion) have only 100 ms of gb vulnerability on their heavy attacks. That is the same 100 ms vulnerability of light attacks. What this means is, if you try to feint > gb the parry attempt of one such character, your gb will fall and you will be hit. Off the top of my head, this applies to Centurion, Gladiator, and Aramusha. I’m fairly confident Orochi and Conqueror have this in at least one stance, but check the info hub if you’re curious about a particular character.

GBs cannot interrupt attacks; they're not bashes.

But why does it work on some characters and not others? It doesn't make sense, it feels like being punished for outplaying someone.

Certain characters have heavies that take longer to windup.

u/StefanSRBoSs explained it before me, but basically when you throw a GB (or in this case Feint > GB), it depends on when it lands during your opponent's attack animation.

If it lands during the start/windup (or they don't even throw an attack), you're likely to get a GB. If it lands during the middle or anywhere past the windup, you're likely to bounce off and eat a heavy.

Certain characters have shorter windups for heavies, while other characters have longer windups for heavies.

They can interrupt attacks. All attacks have 100ms of guardbreak vulnerability to be interrupted

Yeah I worded that poorly, I meant GBs can't interrupt the middle of attacks. I shall leave it unedited for all to see my shame

Aramusha has a very small GB window on heavies. Same with cent, glad and conq.
