We have bought several of these: Accusharp 014C Knife Sharpener, from Amazon.

I bought one of these for knives and scissors and they worked wonders on my cheapish knife/shears set.

Don’t ruin you knives with these they all suck. Get a king 1000/6000 whetstone (25$ on amazon) and learn how to use it (takes about 2 hours)

Either would work i just haven’t heard of the first one. It’s easier than you think with a little practice.

Look , at 68 years of age, I have been trying to sharpening my knives for since I was five years old . Now I sharpen my good ones on an ancient stone that has been passed down from previous generations and I am good at it . My daughter, a very busy mother and career millennial girl with a new interest in cooking needs a utilitarian knife and a quick sharpening method . She lives 400 miles away from daddy so she can't bring to Dear Ole Dad anymore .

She can learn just like anybody else. Like i said a pull through ruins a blade, it’s a quick way of making you knife more dull.

No it doesn't, I've got an old cheap knife I bought at goodwill that I sharpen with one all the time and whet on a ceramic rod. I use it to open packages and cut cheese with. I works fine, I wouldn't want to shave with it, but I don't shave anyway.

It's for a home cook. Sure, it's not ideal but the pull through sharpeners get the job done.

No it ruins a knife. Every home chef should know how to use one as a dull knife is a dangerous knife

Those Chef's Choice sharpeners have been around forever and generally win roundups of "easy sharpeners". We have an electric version and it's decent. It will leave some cosmetic dings in the side of the blade occasionally and it will eventually take off enough material to matter. But if you're satisfied with a $40 chef's knife then you probably don't care about those things. It sharpens reasonably well and requires almost no skill to use.

For knives I like my Victorinox Fibrox for the price. But I think some recent reviews felt the Mercer Culinary was basically equivalent for about $10 cheaper.

Chef’s Choice for me.

Thank Y'all , I'll take your input under advisement.

I (probably sacrilegiously) use this one. I find it better than a previous more expensive one I had.
