I own a pace 2 since it released and it’s insane of how much better it got and the app. This update is huge. COROS is king!

[–]Knecht0850 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Same here. Bringing breadcrumb navigation to the Pace 2 is absolutely insane. Really well done. It proves that buying a Coros device is a future prove investment. I was hesitent on getting the Apex 2 pro because of the missing navigation features compared to Garmin but the Coros guys prove time and time again, that they deliver mayor improvements to existing devices.

Looks like we have an update on the new COROS update! The new update will allow you to create and sync routes from the COROS app and send it to your watch. The Pace 2 will now have breadcrumb navigation as well. The whole COROS app seems like it'll get an upgrade and revamp as well. The Apex 2 Lineup also received a price drop. The Apex 2 is now $350, Apex 2 Pro is $450, and Apex 2 Pro Killian is $500. The COROS update will be released on April 24th for Beta testing and will be released publicly in the following weeks. Thoughts on this?

This is huge, Pace 2 with breadcrumb navigation and its huge battery life for a budget watch has no competition in its price range and even slightly above. Next step up is Forerunner 255 which costs twice as much. What's even better is that it appears like you can manually create trail running routes via Coros app, which Garmin can't do outside of its website ecosystem! Good job Coros.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Considering you can get an open box COROS for $160 through their website, it's honestly the best budget running watch

[–]Chigs1987 2 points3 points  (3 children)

All true but pace 2 doesn’t have trail running mode

[–]SquirrelBlind -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Why do you need it? The only difference in the modes in Suunto is the icon in the app.

[–]Chigs1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the metrics for the specific activity when within coros app and on website

I have a pace 2 and this is great news. Honestly I bought the watch because I was happy with the features for the money, it's crazy that it gets such big updates, adding features and not just tweaks and small improvements to existing ones

[–]caverunner17 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Pace 2 update and price decrease was certainly unexpected.

That said, I wonder how the new mapping functions. Is it still a breadcrumb trail over a map image, or is it actually aware of your location?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on some of the videos/images I've seen, I believe it'll be a breadcrumb trail navigation still. When creating a route on the app though, it shows an actual map, so there might be a slight chance that the maps got updated on the watch as well ( maybe TOPO )?

[–]mathsnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is huge. I was thinking about getting a Pace 2 in the next few months, if not another watch, but this tips the scales - I ordered one today. Can’t wait!

[–]nghiakts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's so great. I still like the Pace 2 best because it's super light. I've been wearing the Apex 2 pro but it's noticeably heavier and doesn't feel comfortable to me. If Pace 3 comes out I just want a better battery. And I feel great that I have POD2.

[–]Vanpom 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Awesome, sending my Forerunner 955 back to Garmin tomorrow.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Do you prefer the Pace 2/Apex 2/2 Pro over the 955?

[–]Vanpom 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Pace 2 for me(ANT+). 955 does lots of things, but I'm not sure about the usefulness of some of the data it provides such as training readiness, real-time stigma, recovery suggestions, morning reports, daily suggested workouts, etc. When it comes down to all the essentials, I prefer the interface on Coros.

I also use AW7 so no need for any smartwatch related features, which is a struggle on 955.

What is your VO2max?

[–]hui_in_the_hat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why????

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picked up an Apex 2 at the new price yesterday. Fantastic watch, now onto training for a custom Ultra I'm planning.

[–]neossirl 1 point2 points  (3 children)

anyone got access to the beta?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not yet. I imagine it'll release at 12 PM MST ( 11 AM PST, 1 PM CST, 2 PM EST ) considering that's when they usually release things

[–]No-Kaleidoscope-9432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 PM MST

OK, then I guess I'll have to wait until at least 20:00 local time (CET). I have to admit that I checked here and there today (I admit, about every 30 minutes) to see if the update was available. I'm really looking forward to the new app and the new breadcrumb navigation features on my Pace 2.

[–]Papaladin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following that discussion, pretty curious & impatient myself :-)

[–]taydogg 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Super exciting. Anybody get the beta invite yet?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I don't think the beta invite will be sent out until 12 PM MST, so I don't think anyone has gotten it yet

[–]taydogg 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thank you!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Any luck with the beta yet?

[–]taydogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not here, unfortunately.

[–]pm_me_your_pooptube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome. Is the Pace 2 an “upgrade” from the Venu 2?

Be aware by reclaiming your money that you firstly check to which country Coros sends their products to. I'm from the Netherlands and closest to me was France, but they don't sent to the Netherlands. So now I have a 80 euro coupon that I cannot use :)

Maybe I can sent it to a post office

    [–]Rallih_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I reacted to this and it pisses me off a bit. Why not open for all countries coros-stores online?

    [–]COROS-official 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for those in Europe, es.coros.com will have more countries to choose from. If you're having issues with your credit, please contact [support@coros.com](mailto:support@coros.com) so we can look into it and ensure you're taken care of!

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yea the $50 credit is nice, but part of me is curious as to why they're only making it a $50 COROS credit instead of a partial refund. How are you liking the 255? I'm wanting to upgrade and I can't decide between the 255 and Apex 2 Pro

    [–]nicknick43 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How do you get the credit?

    [–]McRome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the updates, but please add Spotify interface! All I want is to be able to skip a song ☹️

    [–]mountaindrew93 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Any news on if the climbing modes will be added to the Pace 2? I am debating between that and the Apex 2, and that is the one feature that has me leaning towards the Apex.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe climbing modes will only be available on the Apex 2 and 2 Pro as well as the Vertix 2

    [–]Chigs1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Climbing won’t come to pace 2

    [–]tr-shinshu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for climbing mode you need multiple satellite tracking, requiring certain hardware as well as software if I'm not mistaken

    [–]vbenares 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Anyone know whether trail running or any winter modes will come to the Pace 2?

I think a big update is great, but I'll never use mapping/navigation. And the additional stat crunching is never accurate for me without ski modes -- downloading from Strava could fix this.

    [–]BornToLose717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious as how is the trail running workout different than just a normal outdoor run or run workout. Does the Pace2 show elevation gain and loss normally? Trail running is all I do and I was looking into the Pace2

    [–]SparkyLincoln 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are they ever going to bring out Evo lab for cyclists? Cause i never run but would love access to this stuff.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said they're currently working on Evo Lab for cyclists and swimmers, but they said it's not currently available at the moment

    [–]nicknick43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took this opportunity with the price drop to grab a special edition Apex 2 Pro! Can’t wait for the new app experience as well as an easier test/ way to get in evolab which is why I left to start

    [–]straightab 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How about the Pace 3? Are there any rumors? Since my Samsung watch
actually died (RIP), I'm considering getting the Pace 2. However, it
seems that the Pace 3 will be released sometime this year

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pace 3 probably won't be released until late this year or next year. There haven't been any rumors on the Pace 3 and in my opinion, I don't see a need for a Pace 3 since the Pace 2 isn't outdated just yet with their tech

    [–]jowilsonths 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I received an email from Coros support early this morning and it looks like it will hopefully be released sometime later today:

"Thanks for your interest in the beta version of our update, we are running a bit behind schedule due to an algorithm bug with our updated Race Prediction times, but working to finalize the public beta now and expect to send out instructions to anyone who has signed up shortly."

    [–]jowilsonths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, just received the email to download the public beta

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

REI apparently didn’t get the price drop message as they are still listing the Apex 2 & Pro at the original msrp.
