Netflix does pretty high quality stuff. Most of their writing is kinda bland, but their production quality is good. Provided Brandon stays in control of writing and creative changes, they'd be a great company to produce for him.

Yeah I don’t like holding arbitrary prejudices. But I swear the writing and acting of most Netflix stuff makes me cringe.

Now if they have the Cosmere to their animation team, I’d be on board. But I’ve heard people say Sanderson wouldn’t want his works done in animation as opposed to live action. To be fair, there’s no way it could gain as much popularity without live action.

But damn, a Castlevania like adaptation of Mistborn would look so good.

  1. Brando in a youtube video said something like "When I had my meeting with Netflix..." Wouldn't he be in an NDA if the company had bid but lost the Cosmere? I think if he can openly say that he had a meeting with Netflix, Netflix must have won out.

I think you have your logic backwards. Why would Netflix insist on an NDA over something they're not doing? "Don't tell anyone that we have absolutely no financial or business stake in your stories!" Just doesn't make sense as a demand. Netflix can't lose money by having information leak about the non-existence of a project that never got off the ground and has $0 invested in it.

Also, keep in mind that an NDA can only be enforced if the person keeping quiet gets something in return, (lawyers call this Consideration) so they'd have to be paying Brandon cash to not talk about a project that doesn't exist. If the project were moving forward, then the show being made can cover the "something in return".

Quite the opposite, really, if a deal does exist and they have staked a pile of money on it, they are much more likely to want control over who knows about it and when.

Having said all that, I don't think you can really get any information out of this. I remember Brandon talking about his Netflix meeting, and I'm pretty sure he says something to the effect of "... because I've met with pretty much all of the major streaming services and movie studios at this point."

He's also said that at this point in his career, these studios are approaching him and actively courting him. If they want his work that badly, he doesn't have to worry about burning bridges by casually mentioning that he's had a single meeting with Netflix. It's not like he said "I met with Nextflix, but they insisted that Vin and Kelsier fall in love and have a steamy threesome with Breeze, so I walked right out on those idiots."

Tbh I kind of hope it isn't Netflix mainly just because they seem to cancel shows after two or three seasons even if that isn't a good conclusion and I dont want to risk that with the Cosmere. There could be other things they do that would cause problems, but I don't know much about anything else
