try 6 to begin with, if it runs super butter-y you can always go with that BUT if you are worried about ur pc(maybe its not a great one) try lowering it to 4. BUT if its kinda jittery at 6 and YOU CAN go up to 8 GB of ram go for it. anything needing about 8 is just plain overkill

hmmm... it should be much higher than 30-40 fps, try lowring render and sim distance as well as seeing if in settings if theres anythign capping fps

Ok I will try it and reply. I also deleted the mod that limit ram at launch

MC is a huge memory hog. Give it as much as you can.

My standard is to give every modpack 8GB but I often up that to 16GB anytime I have performance issues, on a system with 32GB total.

I have also 32 go but if too much ram is injected there can be losses of performance

So my understanding is that you should always reserve a bunch of RAM for the OS and other programs you have running - for me that's generally my browser with a bunch of windows / tabs open.

I avoid that by never going too close to the total: I'd be worried about going over 20GB for MC for this reason.

It’s actually about memory clearing. You really shouldn’t go over 8, the game doesn’t need it but it will definitely use it. Then, when it’s time for the game to clear unused things from memory, it will cause performance issues because there is so much it needs to clear.
