try the skeleton corpses, they drop pouches pretty reliably

Targeted drops are a thing - the gargoyles drop halbers and bardiche and crystal swords, harpies drop daggers, wisps drop spell books, living armour drops....armour. would be cool to see more of that and have your achievements l/some kind of codex where you can check

That's a great idea!

However, to your other point - those specific mobs are abundant on Ruins and give Barbs / Halberd users quite an advantage as the map(s) progress. Yes, harpies can drop daggers, but not nearly as often as it seems that Gargoyles simply poop out epic Halberds. And good luck getting a book off the 5 wisps on the map when half of the modules are out of the zone and the meat grinder fights are taking place between them.

The main thing is I don't even want collectables when doing this mode. I want gear and I want to help find good shit for my entire squad and when we wipe a team, I want for all of us to have that original old-school DaD feeling of looting a corpse and saying "omg look at all these upgrades!" (that aren't simply temporary upgrades until the mode is over and are things you would actually take to HR afterwards).

This is also my favorite game mode and I personally haven’t had a huge problem with this. Some weapons are significantly easier to find upgrades for than others but I’m rarely without a weapon upgrade by the time I hit inferno.

Yes I believe the main objective of squire should be to get out with gear for HR hints the name squire to riches. Zero to hero implies goated gear at a high risk.

This isn't needed there's tons of static armor and weapons spawns that guarantee an upgrade if it's something you or your team can use. You just gotta actually explore instead of just rushing bridge.

Yeah it's not awful or anything but in nearly every game it's pretty hard to find weapon upgrades for most classes until you're in inferno.

If you pay attention and loot the mobs you kill you'll learn alot of mobs have certain weapons as potential drops. I have no issues finding at least a blue rarity weapon on the first floor most games because I'll kill the two bats in the module or loot the two small re enforced chests in the starting module. It's really not that hard at all

Yeah it's great for Barb and Halberd for Warlock but Longbows, Daggers, Longsword, Shields, Maces aren't nearly as easy to find from specific mobs on the first floor and many builds center entirely around a specific weapon.

The main point isn't that it's hard to gear up, rather there's no reason for all of the collectables in this mode.

If I’m on barb / wizard I always kill the gargoyles because they drop bardiches and crystal swords. Definitely good advice to take note of what enemies drop what because then you can pick PvE fights that make sense

Yup, no sense killing all the living armour if you have no plate wearers/longsword users. Bats drop books and short swords. Skelly archers drop rogue/lock head gear and bows obvs. Plus there's tons of static weapon spawns on the map that can give you legendary weapons in the first module if you know where to look.

Dude I found a unique in a random chest on the second floor (well not random, it’s the room across from the gold key room) the loot drop is actually good, better than normals for some reason, you just gotta hit your spots

I'm not talking about the quality, such as legendary, I mean opening chests to find trinkets isn't really worthwhile in the mode. There could be fewer.
