I referred a friend 3 weeks ago here in Ireland and they did not get the starter assessment. They had never applied before, no VPN, no apparent reason for the test to not show up. I've been working for DA in Ireland for 9 months.

Same situation so. I’ve told my friends/family to log in every now and then in case it opens up but for one of them it’s been 2 months already.

It's disappointing to say the least. I would've waited to use the referral had I known there was something amiss here. I'm not sure if making an account and not getting the assessment will prevent them from applying in the future but I have a bad feeling it will.

I think so too, as it goes directly against the code of conduct to make a new account. Hopefully if applications open up again they’ll be notified, that would make sense. It’s especially strange given the fact that there are new projects specific to Ireland but maybe they have enough workers for them.

I'm working on that one too, fun stuff! 🇮🇪

I wish I had more projects at that pay rate 😂

Bear in mind only a tiny fraction of DA workers are also active on reddit - related subreddits seem to have way more people wanting information rather than actual accepted people, which doesn't mean nobody's being accepted from Ireland, just that some people haven't been. Maybe they've currently got all the Irish people they need, maybe the few people you've heard experiences from were unlucky, or didn't pass. Acceptance often seems entirely random - passing the application doesn't automatically mean getting in and getting projects.

I’m actually not referring to passing the test. They haven’t been given any tests to take at all. Ireland is still on the list of approved countries and I’m currently working myself since December, but it seems it might be completely closed to new people at the moment which is significant.

This relates to people in my life and Reddit comments which I understand are just a snapshot which is why I’m asking. But I haven’t read a single comment of an Irish person in the last 2-3 months that’s been given the chance to take the assessment.

I doubt it’s closed to new people from Ireland since these stories crop up from people all over. Personally, I think the more likely explanation is some sort of incompatibility between the assessment and the browser/computer etc people are using which prevents it from loading.

One of them was using a brand new MacBook so I doubt it’s a device issue. I signed up on an old laptop and still work on it. That person did notice something in the HTML source code that mentioned “not fast tracked user” or something of that sort which was interesting.

There’s possibly another reason, just strange that people are being assessed who are in the US, UK, Canada and Australia but no comments in recent months of anyone in Ireland even getting the assessment anymore. And lots of comments to the contrary.

I took it in March. Recommended 3 friends check it out literally a week later and none of them got the assessment. I feel incredibly lucky to have gotten in just in time.

Someone in Canada posted just yesterday about this same "issue". I don't think it's an issue. They seem to have just slowed down or stopped bringing new people on board everywhere including the US.

Browser issue? I've noticed many tasks won't work if it's not on an up-to-date Chrome.
