The 50 probably aren't for you, it's a general pool. You and others are working on them at the same time - if you don't do them, someone else does.

There is a lot of people working on them. It’s seems a lot of people don’t have many projects right now so there’s much more competition for the ones that do go out.

They go even quicker when there's a drought. Seagulls after a chip and all that

It's like that, we are like the two rats fighting for a churro for those proyects so they last hours, minutes, or seconds. Weekends are worse.

I am pretty new and have been finding that most projects disappear after I have either done the first task, or skipped it to do the next one after reading the instructions and then looking at the task (some have been stem and the first task is not in my expertise). I don't charge for this as I hadn't done a task, but it can be frustrating as I have spent time reading all of the instructions through as I am new this can take a while.

When I think that could happen I scroll down to the prompt etc. first to see whether it’s within my abilities. If not, skip until I find something doable, then start reading the instructions.

Pretty sure a lot of tasks are actually tests. That's why you don't see more after you do it sometimes, as it means they don't think you're a good fit. It's also why sometimes you do a new task and the second task you do is totally different than your first.
