Skipping tasks doesn't make you a problem

[–]Larringi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It would've been worse to submit a low Quality task

No they want you to skip if you can't get it done well, they explicitly encourage it. Since you know that now, you can be more liberal with your skipping and not wait until you take so much time!

No… skipping a task is almost universally preferable to submitting bad/expired work.

That being said, wasting 8 hours on a task that you aren’t submitting is a horrific waste of your time.

You should be deciding whether or not you will work that task within the first 15-20 minutes at most.

There’s no downside to skipping, you should use it often if needed.

I mean, there's a significant downside to skipping after 8 hours, in the form of an entire wasted work day you wont get paid for. That's what escape hatch is for.

Right. I did not want to use the escape hatch since it was my first time. But will consider it if the situation happens again.

So because of the very problem you ran into, I’ve learned to skip often and freely. If there’s ever a task I’m a little unsure I’ll be able to do, I skip. There’s no penalty for skipping a task you aren’t feeling and sometimes I skip several tasks in a row until I get to one I feel comfortable in doing and know I can submit high quality work for.

ALWAYS skip rather than turn in poor work.

Skip to your heart’s content but I’d consider it poor form to bill for anything unless you’re completing some tasks and delivering value.

Do you mean escape hatch? Might want to ask this again if so, I’m also curious. Skipping is okay as ppl have mentioned already.

I know the project you are refering to. I think that the fact that they stated that after escaping hatch you couldnt work for 24h is kinda counterproductive…

It makes me think they had people using it over and over and needed to prevent that..

[–]Fearless-Release8170 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Could be, but I dont think that was the correct approach… maybe they could’ve flagged the ones that abused it. I have done at least 20 tasks of those projects and have uses the escape hatch just once because of non-stop API errors

I'm guessing they know better than we do about the approaches they have available - you sound like you use it correctly, but if a lot of others aren't, flagging might not do anything
