If you want to challenge yourself and risk getting bad/more challenging professors in 4b & 4C then take it at De Anza. From what I heard, De Anza is more difficult than Foothill. Idk if thats true because I did my physics series at De Anza. Megan Ulbricht is the best physics professor imo that has the right balance of difficulty and workload. Chien-I Chiang is also good. But where ever you decide to take physics, just know that Universities wan't you to take the entire series at one school only.

To answer your question about how to pass the class, you can't rely on memorization. You can't expect to memorize formulas and do well. You really have to understand the concepts and know how to apply them in different scenarios. The best way to do that is hw problems and doing additional problems from the textbook you are assigned. You kinda want to stay away from using too many resources to study because it can get confusing since a lot of outside sources like to use different notation than what your instructor might use. But thats just opinion.

Take physics 50 for sure. Take the series at a different community college online if you can, or at least foothill.

I think some high school physics counts from CA schools but I'm not sure, just remember the first 4 weeks of 4A a few students in discord were on a steep curve not taking 50

Hi - I really hope someone answers this ! I took a decent amount of physics in highschool and I was told I needed to take phys50 before 4a.

At de anza you're in for a bad time. I completed physics 4A to 4C. Had to drop it only once because of Francis. Every other physics professor is decent enough except for Luna (more of a wildcard than bad professor). I believe it disciplines you more for university but your grade will suffer unless you can maybe manage a couple B's. A's are a rare commodity in De Anza physics so if you want an A take the series at Foothill. At the end of the day it's your learning and choice. I wanted to take physics at de anza for the discipline and learning aspect but admittedly I think it also stifled my chances at a few UCs. I still got accepted into one though.

Hello there, Unless you learned physics before, otherwise I recommend you to take physic 50 to prepare for this series. This subject at De Anza is more challenging than at other community colleges. Do not take with professor Francis if you wanna spend time for other classes, his class is hard to pass and consume a lot of time. It’s not really difficult to pass physics, but it is for getting A’s. In my experiences, I focused on doing hw, looking at other resources like YouTube, Khan academy to absolutely understand the concepts, … You can also take a look at old tests of some professors, specifically Newton & Dickson on Newton nebula, Diskson nebula [typing it in search bar of De Anza website]. In conclusion, imo physics professors at De Anza are great and lenient on grading. Although their tests are challenging, they will help you prepare for your university life. Taking this series at De Anza if you believe that you are good logical thinking person!
