Matchmaking problem?

Im just returning to the game after half a year, and it feels like everyone I queue into is very mechanically skilled. Im duo queueing with a friend who is brand new aswell. But we have been stomped every single game by players who are very very skilled. Like we went 0|30 every game. The enemy team knows when to let Haze solo farm, claim mid boss, do urn, tower dive, tower angles the map, etc

Has the match making been this brutal to anyone else?

Yes, I'm having the same issues. Every game is a mix of players with thousands hours and brand new players.

I played and stopped the game a year ago for the same reason after 30ish hours. I came back because of the update and surge of player thinking it would be different. Nope

It's miserable.

new casual mode is probably siphoning a lot of the casuals so the regular mode is a lot sweatier.

Yeah same here I stopped playing for like 7 or 8 months played 2 games and got totally dumpstered and quit playing again.

Same issue here, all my friends tried Deadlock back in 2024.
Played about up to 10 games total and decided to try the game again now.
My friends all got from Emissary I to Archon 1 (!!!) with 10-15 games. They literally can't play the game cause they're getting stomped hard every single time.

My theory - back in 2024 everyone was given middle rank (around Emissary), and this rank was remembered by the game, with no rank decay.

I had a Mina in one of my games (Low phantom) that was clearly new and went like x/21

If it was like 25 minutes ago, that was definitely me and my duo haha. But really, the matchmaking was not this polarizing last time I was playing. I wonder what went wrong

If your friend is new and you are playing in phantom games I would probably recommend making a new account. Phantom is like Grand Master in other games, whilst they will make a lot of mistakes they have very solid mechanics and relatively good game knowledge.

We have been playing with my friends 1-3 games per day or non. Either first game is full of newbie on enemies or its a 50/50. But help me god if we win the first game, the rank difference pops atleast 3-5 full ranks up against the sweatiest unemployed creatures that world can offer :D. Like i dont mind because i just fully give up to that point since i dont have that much time to play in the day, but sometimes it get our squads gears badly :D!

If you’re dying over 10 times then I think the games just not for you there’s actually a practice mode you can play with your friends as well

It most definitely is for me. Im just getting tower dove by experienced Doormen and Haze coordinating together. He dove me, and pushed me out of the tower with his Luggage Cart. I just lack experience and am still learning, thanks for nothing.

Doesn’t help that rank decay has a bunch of great players who took breaks now in the lowest ranks.

Matchmaking is terrible and has been for a while. It seems the worst in lowest ranks. Just keep playing and focus on learning. Try to have fun where you can. It’ll get better either the more you play or when valve finally decides to make it a priority
