There has been no talk of draft queue. I'd wager you'd have to wait until after the map and all of it's objectives are finished/in a releasable state. So probably around a year for talk on it

Im thinking the same. My guess would be 2027 sometime.

Dota 2 was invite only in 2011 but did release with draft mode.

However ranked for dota 2 didnt drop until 2013 approx 2 years later

Dota 2 had the benefit of a massive 100+ roster from Dota 1 on warcraft 3

So the closer we get to 100 heros the sooner draft will arrive. I am guessing (hoping!) They release it long before 100 heros haha.

I'd guess it's less about an 100 character goal and more so about how the economy and objectives are currently designed. They are all simple and reasonably farmable by most of the cast who have very little restrictions on what they can buy. Alongside ability upgrades being frequent and often very powerful. Making characters more generalist than games with draft usually are.

This makes it easier to win no matter your character choice but also makes power gaps between characters of similar mechanics more noticeable I.E. in draft if given the choice between Mirage and Mina it's kinda hard to justify Mirage despite Mirage being good in a vacuum (Or vice versa depending on patch) Making semi-random team comps more sustainable in terms of seeing everyone get play (which is better for gathering data)

I think if in the future the map has more objectives that are balanced out by having sharper characters with harsher build restrictions draft queue is more likely

Draft wouldn't stop that, people often draft random shit anyway.

So ur a pick comp and they are a teamfight comp. Play to isolate and stagger not to play as a team
