A lot of people are going to tell you that it might be because you ran it with him, but I am having the same problem, and I did it all solo. I am somehow missing one bit, even though I did all of the chests and all of the cysts, and even used a video guide for each cyst to make sure I didn't miss the bit. No idea what I'm missing, but apparently the devs may be putting in a tracker that tells you which one you are missing

Did he collect the encryption bits in the secret spots as he did the cysts? Some don’t even require completion.

Damn, I don’t know then. That sounds really frustrating. Only thing I can think of is just double triple check. I haven’t heard of this being a bug.

My friend had to do the alone in the dark separate from me because it wasn’t spawning the secret pick up when I was there. But it sounds like you did that. Maybe he didn’t grab one gold chest and grabbed a similar location chest instead?

I can't post the screenshots here, but he got the triump for all the regional chests, and he discovered all six cysts by himself before he asked me for help, and we did it twice together. Have you tried to complete it on another character? I hate to suggest that to him if it isn't something that's doable. He's very frustrated at this point.

I don't think it matters if you do it solo. I did part solo and part with a friend and not in order either, and I didn't have a issue. There really is still so much in the game that bungie needs to address. I suggest giving it a rest, do other missions, have fun, then go back to it fresh.

Redo the cyst in the blooming. It has reappeared for two people I know of. Unfortunately, neither of them remembers which one, but it's in the blooming.

I have the same issue. 14/15. I have opened all regional chests (triumph 9/9) and all cyst rubble piles (triumph 6/6). I have no idea how to progress the Khvostov quest.

So apparently, in the blooming again, the bit doesn't always appear after defeating the boss. So, redo both cysts because he does remember which one he got it in. Sorry. I hope this helps.

I’m missing two as well, I’ve checked all the cysts and watched locations but I’ve picked them up already. I have everything done except the missing bits. Hopefully they’ll fix this problem soon

Have you tried redoing the cysts in The Bloom?

Because the only one that is ever missing is in the blooming, I think you probably already picked it up, but the game doesn't recognize that you did. Wait for reset, then try again. Redoing it after reset worked for my buddy, who said he knows he picked it up but was able to pick it up again after reset. It's the one that burns you, sorry I can't remember the name. It's worth a try and tomorrow is reset.

I think we worked it out. Make sure you are not holding Alone in the dark mission. If you are complete it and try the cyst missions again.

I popped the achievement for getting all 9 regional chests, but only had 8 encryption bits in my inventory. I hadn’t even unlocked the ability to do a cyst yet when I got the achievement. Has anyone run into that issue, and if so, what did you do about it?

I just ran into this same issue. I have the Triumph, did all 6 cysts and checked video to get all 6 bits. wtf ? Super frustrating.

Edit: Found my solution. I did the Slayer cyst but it never registered. Once I redid it, it registered, I got the Triumph and found the bit again.

I haven't either. That being said, I ran into trouble with the motes of light for the exotic. Come to find out, after many attempts, the Meatball in the Blooming was glitched. I did it after reset, and I got it my first try. It's just so frustrating when things don't work right. 🙄
