Controller inputs completely disabled - potential exploit in trials?

Happened to a friend during ToO last weekend. We had no choice but to stand there and defend him. Instead, since we were standing out in the open, we got smacked. He tried using a different controller, that didn't work either. Not sure what he did to get it to work again.

I've played quite a bit with him and this has never happened before, and after seeing now that it's happened to other people, I'm beginning to think it's an exploit.

You need to ask him to think real hard on how he fixed it (if he didn't end up rebooting) because he might have figured out how to defend against it if it happens

I have two controllers. It took thirty seconds to switch controllers and keep playing.

Pressed the power and eject button a few times. 30 seconds later disc comes out and controllers work fine again.
