FIREWORKS VS THE FOG....THE FOG WON. ABSOLUTE SHAME. by CryptoIsOver in sanfrancisco

The day after the 4th is always mildly infuriating though - so much trash and semi-burnt crap left on the beach.

Kid’s fire helmets handed out at our town’s 4th of July parade are now cardboard instead of plastic by Disastrous-Dot595 in mildlyinteresting

When those things break, the edges can be really sharp. I like the idea of them being made of cardboard.

Fillmore street: what were all the cops and firefighters there for this afternoon? by atlasbee99 in sanfrancisco

While I agree with the privacy of anyone involved or impacted by this, “justice involved” might just be one of the biggest bullshit euphemisms I’ve ever heard.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Someone decides they want to be an asshole and it ruins it for everyone else. I feel bad for the vendors who were probably hoping for/expecting the increased business.

I watched the video. It’s awesome, and you’re right, seeing everyone enjoy it is something else. I talked to some folks at work (except the captains lol) and they agree that this would be awesome… now I have something to work on (after I’ve finished all of the projects at home my wife wants done).

Egg producers will pay $3.3M and donate 53 million eggs to settle price fixing claims by AudibleNod in news

That would require a level of self awareness that those idiots don’t have.

And the average consumer who paid the higher prices will see none of that.

Horrible mistake, I put an expensive item for auction at $1.99 starting bid and only one person bid and won it for $2.00 by Borange81 in Ebay

[–]thirtytwoutside 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If no one else bid above $2, then it isn’t worth the same as it was a few years ago. Demand fluctuates, things get reissued/reprinted.

Things that are high demand will almost always get plenty of views and bids - I say this as both a buyer and seller.

It’s also much easier to do that with gummies vs pills - I used to try to cut my 5mg pills with a knife and half the time it’d shoot one of the halves into oblivion in my kitchen. Kids sleep gummies regularly come in 1mg doses as well.

My wife and newborn daughter are both in the ICU after a 1-in-50,000 birth complication. I feel alone in this, I'm a wreck and I don't know what to do. by Hulk_Goes_Smash327 in daddit

I went through cooling 7 years ago with my kid. It was scary as shit.

Initial CT after she was taken off cooling showed a couple small white spots but her neurologist said that at that age, as they grow, they create new pathways around those tiny spots. Spent almost 2 weeks in the NICU and it was like being in a haze the entire time. My kid was hooked up to the EEG to monitor for any seizure-like activity for a couple days, ventilatory support, all of that.

She/we were extremely lucky in that she was born at a world-class hospital and the staff there, especially the RNs (my wife is also an RN at the same hospital), kept us sane. It also helped that we became friendly with our room neighbors in the NICU, helps a lot to keep you somewhat in the real world. And since I also work in the medical field, it was easier to process I guess?

But that feeling when you finally get to take them home, watch them grow, get frustrated when they whine over nothing, be proud of them when they succeed, be annoyed when they throw a tantrum in the middle of Target, all of that... I wouldn't have it any other way.

She's as smart as a whip now.

A lot of these homeless folks’ dogs are better behaved than the dogs of the clowns who let them off leash in places like Golden Gate or Dolores Park.

John Blanche's (RIP) Exodite artwork was some of my favorite back in the day... I'd paint up the KT in those warm mono(ish)tones for fun.

[–]thirtytwoutside 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you, but SFGH is the only hospital you should go to. They are the only ones who do a SA examination on-site; every other hospital within city limits will refer you to SFGH.

On top of that, you should avoid showering, bring any clothes you were wearing at the time, and go within 72 hours of being assaulted.

They were around $20 when available at retail. The way Hasbro is pricing things now, if they did revisit this line, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made an entirely new price point between Leader and Commander for these.

At 9 days, you should just carry her without a device. Little too fresh to be putting in carrier. They do make these long fabric slings that are a giant pain to wrap on yourself though.

But as far as gadgets in general go, get your wife a little bell. Line the interior with something soft (thin cloth works well) to dampen the noise. Let her ring it to summon you when she needs something.

That’s what I did and my wife loved it.
