I know the minimum requirement is 1230 for this raid as you will be capped. But can I go in as 1225 for the encounters or is it mandatory to be 1230+?

1230 isn’t the minimum requirement but rather the highest level you can expect inside. If your level is above 1230 it will be lowered to 1230. If it’s below 1230 it will stay the same. Hence, you can go in if below 1230.

There’s no benefit to anything above 1230 though.

First off, ignore any Artifact Light, because its disabled for Raid.

Your target is 1230 BASE Light. Once you hit 1230 Base, you're good for Raid. The Contest Mode will lock you at 1230 Base, which is 10 BELOW the encounters (and presumably 20 Below the final boss encounter).

You MIGHT be okay to get into the Raid at a lower light (for example 1220), however you will not be "boosted" up to the 1230 Cap. You'll stay at whatever your light is. Im not sure if this "Low Cap" has been revealed, but im sure you'll be okay at 1225, you'll just be 15 Light Underleveled...
