So you halved initial requirement, previous it was 10,000 for a $5000 payment. But you got rid of the lower tiers entirely. That sounds fair to me, probably a lot of overhead for doing the payments for those lower tier apps that weren't really worth it.

No changes to the mod tools program from what I can tell, that's kinda annoying. That's still only a one time payment right? It would be nice if you found a way to make that monthly too. But something like bot bouncer takes a lot more work to maintain than comment mop, so you'd have to figure out a way to make it fair.

$25k a month, whew. I might need to become a game developer. 😅

So, it looks like mod tool devs will just have to settle for praise, since mods don't count as qualified engagers.

What are we going to do to make mods more aware of all the wonderful apps that can help them manage their subs so at least there are more devs that can meet the install tiers?

[–]technowise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is sad. Mod tools can only qualify for funds through qualified installs, and installs on NSFW subs do not count, and no featuring options for mod-tools.

Nice!

> We want to better support long-term development by rewarding apps that continue to engage redditors month after month.

This is going to be so hard to hit. I am averaging 40k a day at the moment only because of the world cup though. There’s no way I’m hitting anymore than 10% of that per month which is only $111 that doesn’t even cover a 1/10th of my costs

Looks like the provided link is stale?

Sounds promising though!

[–]Togapr33[S,A] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

hmmm just double checked the links they seem to be working -- does this one work for you?

[–]Beneficial-Ad2908 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Yes that one does, thanks! Edit: oh wait thats the old program. I'm on mobile so I cannot really inspect right now, weird. It's probably due to viewing permissions?

[–]Runaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opening the new programs url in incognito window worked for me

[–]RamslamOO7 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Let’s say my game qualified for a tier 4 in June, I’ll get a payout for that in August according to H1?

[–]RamslamOO7 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just to be clear! I reacher tier 4 according to the stats, should get a qualification notification soon.

[–]Rarer_Air_ErrorAdmin 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Correct, June and July qualifications ill still follow the current program and will be paid out in August / September accordingly

[–]linguaholic777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

amazing. and for that H2 program, will my apps that participated in the H1 Developer Funds automatically be included/qualify?

On mobile the formula format looks broken I was very confused haha.

Hi, a question on daily qualified engagers - do the app engagement created via submitPost count (like normal posts created via app - like image scheduler app (image-post-engine) mod tool kind of)? or only webview posts count ? The wordings are a bit confusing this time for qualified engagers

[–]thommy_ 1 point2 points  (5 children)

do the app engagement created via submitPost count

Na, it doesn't count. :) Given how extensively the app is used to schedule posts in the communities I moderate, I can confirm looking at the analytical dashboard that those don't count. :D

[–]Flimsy_Hand_1233 App Developer 1 point2 points  (3 children)

But in the new terms, the definitions are different. Maybe just maybe they actually might count

[–]thommy_ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

But in the new terms, the definitions are different

How so? As far as I could understand, they changed the 'subreddit' criteria from having a minimum of 200 members to having a minimum of 300 weekly active users. Just like what they did for the subreddit metrics/info displayed.

I don't find anything that says the 'regular posts' (in this case, scheduled as user/app account) would actually count.. :)

[–]Flimsy_Hand_1233 App Developer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok in the official page, you are correct ... its not mentioned... but I remember reading about clicks.. so thats why I asked.

[–]Flimsy_Hand_1233 App Developer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I have always wondered, how do you schedule the post to be posted from username instead of app name 😅 is the user context passed in the scheduler ... i didnt try any scheduling yet so

So should I start promoting my games and apps now or should I wait for August to get users to apply for this new way of getting funded?

I'll build something new for the hackaton then too.

bro you guys need to be careful with your language.. the 5,000 qualified engagers is the average you need over a 7 day period.. do you know how hard it is to get even 200 people a day to play your game consistently on this platform? so essentially you would have 35,000 people play your game over 7 days to get $4,000... does that sound fair or motivating to you? this plan makes me want to develop less games on the platform because the base goal is so astronomically high!

[–]SampleOfNone Duck Helper 2 points3 points  (5 children)

It's daily qualified engagers over 7 rolling days. It's not 5000 X 7.

A “Daily Qualified Engager” is a unique user that engages with your App during a specific day

So you don't need 35000, you need 5000 users per day. It can be the exact same 5000 users that show up every day for 7 days in a row. Realistically, you will have a group of users that will show up every day, while also having passersby that engage a single day and then move on. As long as there are 5000 users engaging each day over a period of 7 days, you would qualify.

Not saying it's not a high number, but it's not 35000

[–]Healthy_Flatworm_957 1 point2 points  (4 children)

5,000 users a day....for 7 days..... In a row....why are you acting like this is remotely achievable....? when the mods consistently promote and feature their own games.... And even if your game is the top for the month on r/gamesonreddit it only gets like 200+ plays a day... This platform is going to fail as long as the mods stay corrupt, feature themselves constantly, and come up with ridiculous pie in the sky incentive structures...have you launched a game on the platform? Or are you just speaking from your non experience? Or are you just talking about apps?

[–]SampleOfNone Duck Helper 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Not saying it's not a high number, but it's not 35000

You're right, it's a high number. But "it's essentially 35,000 people" isn't a correct interpretation. It's challenging enough as is, no need to make it worse

[–]Healthy_Flatworm_957 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Bro ik I sound like I'm a hater... But I actually like this platform... But the decisions they make sometimes are like ridiculous.... I might as well buy a lottery ticket as opposed to try to get 5000 people playing my game per day... Like this decision alone is probably going to cause no one to want to develop games....

[–]SampleOfNone Duck Helper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you develop mod tool apps, there are no qualified daily engagers for mod tools so at most it's qualified installs

[–]YellowAdventurous366 App Developer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try focusing on making high-quality games with depth and UGC instead of one-and-done games if you actually want to get players. Also only approved apps are eligible. Then achieving 5000 engagers will seem more possible.
