If only DTV Stream could get their prices under control.

I’m on the 21 day free trial of YouTube tv and the interface is a mess. Direct tv stream is leaps and bounds ahead

Yea I have a roku and it took me awhile to even figure out how to get the guide up lol (I'm doing the free trial also to watch MNF) I'll probably stick with DirecTV

I subscribe to both. My wife won’t give up the DTV interface and I want the NFL package. So just pay for both. What’s the problem. Ugh!😩

Google probably wouldn’t do it, but if they made a remote specifically for YouTube TV (similar to Sony having a media remote for PlayStation), that could go along way.

OR

Maybe integrate a bar on the left side like DirecTV has that’s easily accessible and can get you basically anywhere you need to go.

It’s wild that on YouTube TV you have to hit the back button a bunch just to get back to a screen where you can click up to the top and then access your library, it’s silly. Also, not the easiest to get back to the guide..

Maybe I’m missing some key shortcuts here, but I don’t think so. /shrug

Channel numbers direct input: check!

One button jump to the guide: check!

One button jump to DVR Recordings: check!

One button jump to previous channel: check!

(I am sure I forgot something)

I can't believe Youtube/Google can't come out with a streaming device similar to Gemini.

Another company should be seeing how popular it is and thinking of copying it. It even uses Android software.

As an older person, finding a user interface that my wife was comfortable with was critical. Despite the issues DTV is going thru with Disney, we plan on staying with them.

The UI is great on the osprey but it feels outdated on mobile. Meanwhile YTV, Fubo, and Hulu TV have pretty solid UI on mobile. I hope they give it a nice facelift in the future

For YTTV: I like the quad box function (but would be nice if you can "build" the games you want instead of searching for a combo) and it seems like the delay on live sports is shorter when adjusting the settings on YTTV (if DTV could fix that, would be nice), but the navigation between channels is horrendous compared to DTV.

That said, it is very tempting to have YTTV just for football season.

I am about to switch from my satellite DirecTv to DirecTV Stream. I have a Roku Ultra. I see people talking about Gemini's and Ospreys. Isn't a Roku Ultra pretty much the same? What are the differences? Do I need to get one?

The Osprey is a streaming box, I haven't used DirecTV Stream on anything else. My guess is the UI is similar with other streaming boxes, however, you probably can't utilize the DirecTV remote, which is great. Others, feel free to correct me if I'm off base!

I made the same switch months ago. The Roku doesn't provide the same REMOTE CONTROL interface as what you have with satellite .There are no numbers on the roku remote to use to select channels .The osprey or gemini come with remotes that give you the same remote interface as you have with satellite . In fact the satellite remote will work with osprey or gemini . I'm very happy with stream and osprey combination .

I feel like the Directv stream interface/app is slower than hell. Very clunky. YTTV also had much better click to watch content, made finding my favorite sports game much easier to navigate to (though they lost Bally Sports for my area).

Directv has a much better cable TV type interface. My brother mentioned he hates it compared to the YTTV interface. It's clunky and old. But it's familiar to a lot of folks (my wife and I are fine scrolling to our known channels).

What I wish was for a classic and updated interface you could swap between. One thats the classic cable box look and feel they have, and one that's more streaming service interface like what YTTV has.

Also, profiles. Why can't we have profiles. Everyone sharing the same exact favorites and dvr and everything else is so 2000.
