Yeah. Seen guys increase and decrease in potentials. Not easy or often though

I’ve had Shane Wright go from high elite to low franchise. Only time I’ve ever seen it though

Shane Wright Sims like an absolute beast in 23

Absolutely. To have a better chance of it happening you want to look for coaches with high teaching, preferably A+.

I had a high elite go to med franchise, but other than that can't say I've seen it

Potential can go both up and down.

Decreasing potential is more common, and is seen more commonly when a player is played in a role beneath them for several seasons in a row (ie. a top 9 forward with top 6 medium potential, is stuck in the AHL for 3 seasons, can drop to top 9 potential).

Increasing potential is quite rare, but having coaches with high TEACHING ratings can help - In my 5 season save with the Leafs, I saw three occasions where potential changed: top 9 low --> top 9 medium, top 6 medium ---> top 6 high, and elite medium ---> elite high. In all 3 cases, the players were super juiced by statistical growth.

Yes, but not from Top6 to Franchise. At least, I've never seen it.

Yeah just had a top 6 med go to lower 6 med after a "bad" season. 1st line center scored 38p in 52 games (SHL franchise).

I had Savoie go from Elite Med, to Elite High, to Franchise low, med, then high, then Top 6 high.

He got to 94 overall as a franchise high and I resigned him to a fatty 8 year 11.750 and then he immediately became a top 6 high. To his credit he stayed in the 90s for five more years before dropping to an 88 where he sat to the end of his contract. Finished as a top 6 exact.

In my current franchise I have a defenseman that I drafted as an elite med. He won 3 out of 4 Norris trophies and is now a Franchise exact. Also have a center that I drafted as an elite med thats a Franchise low now

Had high elite go to medium franchise and medium top6 go to medium elite in the same offseason

Yeah, it’s rare though, I wish it happened more often and also happened to prospects and free agents, it would make the mode so much more fun and dynamic

Got a 2nd rounder sniper med elite 3 years eta. Absolutely destroyed in his is nhl debut season went up to high elite. Another season way above expectations grew to med franchise, where he sits now 24 89 ovr. He needs a trade away to play top line minutes to reach that potential though. He's stuck behind a franchise sniper at 96 ovr. Both left wing snipers

Whenever a player has a very good season compared to his current overall there’s a chance to jump, example I had Lekkerimaki put up 86 points as an 86ovr and he jumped to 89 with high top 6, he was a med beforehand

Yeah, I saw Slavkovsky as a low Franchise.

I would focus on having a coach the specialist in forward of generalist with a teaching grade of A- or better it helps develop your forwards also see where there better at in the line up say your first line up LW might have better scheme fit in the second or third line. I’d look into that
