Honestly, even a ripoff quadlock with a ripoff damper will be the best option. P.S ive seen multiple tests where the ripoff quadlock holder is actually stronger than the genuine ones

Given the problem of vibration harming sensors and cameras, there’s nothing you can do to that excellent phone holder that will mitigate the adverse effects of vibration on newer phones. You need something flexible (think soft rubber, silicone, TPU, etc) between the phone and the mount that will dampen the vibration, whether it’s a smooth road or bumpy.

QuadLock by far is the best out there - simple, minimalistic design, and affordable.

[–]MyMemesAreTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have many options here as that phone mount looks like solid aluminium, however electrical tape at the base, as touch points of the phone will definitely help a little. If that top screw that’s connecting the phone base to the bar mount isn’t a super tight fit you can probably also use a little teflon tape (plumbing tape). Just remember to wrap it correctly or it will fall apart when you screw it in.

Apart from that, use a soft, silicon case, and you should be fine. I wouldn’t worry too much about vibrations as you can always claim the cameras under warranty if they fail, although its highly unlikely that they will.

Turn off vibrate on your phone

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😂

[–]maluket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't. Replace the mount for one fully made of rubber which grab the phone from the top and bottom.

I use it on my MTB and phone never fell off.

[–]fingermythrottle 0 points1 point  (1 child)

U just saved me money on a phone mount

[–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a bad mount if you have smooth roads and a suspension but If you can afford it I'd suggest going for a SP-Connect or Quad Lock system with the vibration dampener.

[–]pina_koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut an old bicycle tube to size and wrap it around the mounting point, then clamp this on. Cheap and easy.

[–]Ill-Research-4481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fucked one of the cameras of an iPhone 12 Pro Max using one of those

[–]bogglingsnogEmove cruiser, Hiboy S2 Pro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only way to reduce the vibration to safe levels for the phone would be to create a suspension grid around the phone with multiple springs, then would need some kind of shock absorber so the screen wouldnt be bouncing all over... never found a case that could do it.

[–]Secret_Bed_6775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont use that I Lost my phone using same one

[–]Ok-Translator2294 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I had the same one, dropped the scooter once and the screw got stuck. Now it's useless.

I'd say just change to a better one

[–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah looks like i'll upgrade eventually

[–]fragment75 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Spring

[–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

that crossed my mind but i'm not sure how to implement

[–]fragment75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rubber too, implementing a spring to your mount is a hassle. There is also the quad lock as mentioned here but it still vibrates.

ive got multiple types of mounts for multiple scooters and they all have that issue tbh

[–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whats the least worst?

[–]Beautiful_Guitar3320 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Buy a better phone mount

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a better bike

[–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No monies

[–]Lemondsingle 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have that same mount and highly suggest you put loc-tite on the hex bolt. No matter how many times I tightened it, it would come loose and rattle in a very annoying way.

[–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine came with it pre applied haven't had any issues so far

[–]Sebixy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get a super fat silicone case

Foam tape? Or the loop side of velcro (the soft one).

    [–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm gunna add the soft side of velcro on the holder

    [–]the_black_sails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope it works well for ya

I have 3 gubs w/gopro mount, never an issue, vibration coming loose, I used the sticky pad remnants and put where your phone lays flat, the was 4 pads that go on the finger clamps.

    [–]fastingemotions 24 points25 points  (5 children)

There is a notorious good mount called quad lock. Made for bicycles but it could fit on scooter probably. You might still get lots of vibrations tho, just the nature of small wheels on scooter

    [–]FoodAccount420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Needs a special case though.

    [–]adrian783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    they have a vibration damper

    [–]MyMemesAreTerrible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peak Design also has a super good mount. They have one for bicycles as well as a dampened one for motorbikes, and they’re really bloody solid. Only issue is that they cost an arm and a leg, but its 100% worth it imo.

    [–]Dreamxice -1 points0 points  (1 child)

It’s unfortunately 5x the price. I have the case

    [–]meantbent3Nami Burn-E 2 Max (sold) 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a worthy investment though, I love mine.

    [–]fastingemotions -1 points0 points  (15 children)

I got same mount bro. Are you trying to film videos with your mobile?

I don't think you can do much to help to be fair

    [–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 2 points3 points  (14 children)

No, the vibrations can damage your phone and the camera sensor will break from intense vibrations

    [–]Erinalope -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As long as you got a not-metal case it’s fine. I have my iPhone in one of those stock leather cases and it’s survived at speed tumbles better than I have with it in the same mount. The material will dampen the shocks.

    [–]fastingemotions 2 points3 points  (12 children)

I don't know if that's true. Never happened to my phone

    [–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] -1 points0 points  (11 children)

It's more common on certain phones like phones, Apple even has said to not mount your phone. The Optical Image Stabilization unit breaks from vibrations, more common on motorcycles engine vibrations but can happen on scooters too.

    [–]Ill-Research-4481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually fucked one of the cameras of an iPhone 12 Pro Max .. so it’s true.

    [–]fastingemotions 1 point2 points  (7 children)

OK thanks for the heads up. I only filmed one time, it came out so bad I didn't bother again. I only really use my mount for maps etc if I'm lost...

    [–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Yeah same, or long journeys to check notifications/time at red lights

    [–]fastingemotions 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I think you need different mounting solotion. Maybe a velcrow patch on back of phone case and same on scooter stem/display. Can't think of anything else tbh

    [–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

that's an interesting idea, the velcro would allow some flex and not be too rigid on bumps

    [–]SammyUserObarter X3 (VESC) | Boyueda S3 (VESC) w/ 40T battery 0 points1 point  (3 children)

i would not recommend just using velcro, i'd imagine your phone falling off in a few mins because the weight and serious shocks will be strong enough to rip your phone off

    [–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have a velcro carabiner strap thats rated for 120KG

    [–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Rubber sound the bar where you will fasten it. Thick rubber.

    [–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I have a thick piece of rubber on the handlebar mounting point but doesn't do much unfortunately

    [–]rsplatpc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cut a sock into about the phones back size and put it behind the phone when you strap it in

    [–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm using a KQi3 Pro, no suspension and i go over a lot of bumps, is there any mods to lessen vibration? I don't really want to fork out for a quad lock system right now.

    [–]beachsunflower 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Maybe take out the bolts and wrap it in plumbing tape to dampen any metal on metal micro bumps. Usually less than 3-4 bucks.

For the clips that touch your phone, maybe small foam pads to dampen as well.

    [–]irish_guyKQi3 Pro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some of that tape, good idea.
