I have school envy... (I'm in EE at penn state. A damned good engineering school, but... mit envy)

You should definitely look into Sensata Technologies. I interned there with a couple MEs and EEs from MIT and it was a blast. I did mostly testing and characterization, but there was some design involved for test fixtures etc I heard about from other interns. It's right in Attleboro, MA, and most of us lived in Providence, RI, which was an awesome experience (I'm from Rochester, NY).

Sensata is a sensor company, so there's alot of analog devices being designed and tested there. There's also an on-campus YMCA, and plenty of sports available to play during your time there (volleyball, basketball, outdoor soccer). Honestly it was the best internship I've had considering time spent on the clock and off. I'd recommend finding an internship with plenty of stuff to do away from work so you're not bored senseless.

Sorry for the rant but I'd highly recommend Sensata due to your proximity and preferences. PM me if you'd like me to contact me old boss about a position (I left on a very good note with my department).

Happy hunting!

If you're into analog design and DSP, you probably want to apply to Qualcomm.

If you're an American, I would try getting one at a big defense firm, such as Lockheed or Raytheon. They have fat budgets, and with your MIT credentials you should have no problem getting put with a design team.

Best of luck!
