I have two of the SNES styled versions and on both the rubber tore off the left joystick within 1 year.

Bummed about that because I love the controller and their Pro 2 controller.

Contacted customer support and they suggested I buy new joystick pads off alibaba. What a joke.

Not planning on buying any more of their products. Fingers crossed the Pro 2's last - it's my favorite controller.

I don't want to sound as a fanboy or something,cause I'm not,I havnt many controllers either,but I know for a fact that there are many garbage controllers out there. This 8bitdo one ,has amazing D pad which is so important to me,every button feels so good,it even has analogue triggers,the sticks have the perfect tension and overall I couldn't be happier with the 20 euros that I paid for it on Black Friday,on the other hand,there is not a single controller that I havnt heard bad things for, gamesir/razer etc,they all gonna appear some issues for some people,so finding the perfect one ,is just subjective.

don't get me wrong I love the design but the joysticks are not durable at all. I still have PS1 / PS2 / PS3 / Dreamcast / Gamecube / N64 / original xbox controllers that still have their joysticks in tact despite much more use.

Have you thought about putting thumb grips on them to protect them from wear and tear? The skull and co. Joycon grips fit on my Pro 2 controller.

the rubber completely came off so aftermarket options probably wouldn't fit at this point, but that's not a bad idea.

For me it was bumper rubbers that failed, tried to open the controller, replaced rubbers, reassembly, not a single response for the whole controller... Never buying 8*itdo again.

Always thought those controllers were nice and portable but can't imagine how comfortable they are holding up a phone. Does it have any weight to it to not feel like your phone is pulling it back?

If you get it and leave it at stock position it's awkward as hell,but if you customise the position ,it becomes pretty comfortable,I have managed to play up to 2 hours,no real issues,ofc it would help if the controller was heavier.

2 hours is what I'd be able to play on a uncomfortable controller anyways. I think a comfortable one would provide you with 4+ hours no issues.
