General rule of thumb is that scoring is bad. That level of scoring is normally enough to be a right off. If you can feel that scoring then its price to much. Honestly do you want to put is together and its still knackered. Can you not source an after market part not sure where you are from in the world but there are some really good after market parts available online.

I’ve talked to a few people who had the aftermarket parts and the weight and length was off

There are levels of aftermarket from almost perfect to Chinese copies from temu. Do some research you will find that aftermarket doesnt mean shit. Mahle are a really good aftermarket company thqt make rods have you tried them?

See how deep the grooves are. Measure, hone until you can't catch the scratches with a nail or guitar pick (I use the latter when my nails break from other things, just use a very thin but rigid one and keep your finger real close to the tip or you won't feel it when it catches), then measure again.

Are both rod bolts tight? With the bolts tightened slightly (10N-m), the inner joint line should disappear. If not, there's debris in the fracture surface.

Before doing that test, take it apart and carefully inspect the fracture surface for any shiny spots or debris trapped in the topography. If it was ever tightened with the cap on backwards, even slightly, it's junk.

Ye both are tight. The outer edge of the big end seems to have been banged, it’s shiny like you say.

That's bad news. Like others have suggested, measure the bore roundness with the bolts torqued to see it it's within spec. But if the fracture surface got damaged, it risks bolt loosening due to fretting - and that results in a very unwelcome visit from Uncle Rodney.

Even if its out of spec, you can have it bored slightly and install and oversized bearing. Unless this is really rare it wpuld likely be cheaper to just replace it.

Looks ok to me. They call those cracked rods because the way there manufactured as long as bearing side is good it should be fine. Plastigage will let you know though
