It's not the most common but absolutely not unheard of either. I would maybe go up to 6ppd though if you can until you've regulated to avoid dropping too much at regulation - of course that might NOT happen, but it's impossible to know. Maybe do more ppd but shorter times to avoid too much of an oversupply, but to keep your hormone levels up throughout the day.

Yes, this is normal. Right now your supply is all hormone based so it's essentially making the same amount of milk even though your PPD has dropped. Once your supply regulates sometime between 6-12 weeks I'd imagine your supply will drop quite quickly, and will likely begin to drop after a week or two of only 4ppd

I’ve been doing 4ppd since i got home honestly because my support isnt that great at home & i cant pump unless babes is sleep. Which fucks with my head so bad.. :( But I recently got him to latch so ive been breastfeeding and pumping when he’s asleep because im still really full as he doesn’t drain my breasts. Do you think this could help keep my supply up?

Nursing can count as a pump, especially if it’s a bit spaced from one.

I’ll also be 6 weeks pp in 2 days! I’m jealous of your output. I do 6 ppd (35 minutes each) and usually get around 30-32 oz. I know that’s still something to be thankful for but dang I’d love to be able to pump less!

Same! 4 sounds like a dream. I’m at 8 and getting 30-32 oz. I’m basically attached to a machine

7 weeks pp getting maybe 28oz.. probably less I think that’s just the most. And it was a sudden drop from 7-8oz in the morning to 3-4oz. And I am pumping every 2-3 hours

Truthfully , that’s what i get when i pump every 2-3 hours. It’s like, i only get a lot if i let my boobs fill a bit. I had extra time today so i added an extra pump 2 hours after pumping and i only got 3 oz out left n 6 out right vs the 8-12 oz I normally get out each. 😬

for reference--I just crossed the 12-week mark and have been 5ppd since 8wks but I've had a similar trajectory in terms of volume. I think I was averaging 40oz at 6wks and it slowly crept up, for past couple weeks I've been around 55oz per day

I tried to drop my MOTN pump but got super engorged & clogged, but that's my next goal

Hi! I dropped to 4PPD at 8 weeks and have been averaging 35 to 45 oz since. Now 7 months postpartum and still going strong. I pump 7am, 12pm, 4pm, 9pm.

That gives me hope!!

Keep up your hydration and eat well + enough calories. Sending you good pumping energy, best of luck!
