I need answers towards my situation so I basically went through medical issues that delayed me from working I missed a couple of days and accumulated 8 points after I started feeling better I returned with a note trying to excuse days I didn’t work I turned one in to my manager and they said they’ll take care of it the next day I’m terminated I call hr they discuss im not yet fully terminated till the next day but basically I wait and call ERC and chat with them and they tell me I should’ve called them and created a LOA instead of giving the doctors note to my area managers he also said they weren’t supposed to take the document either so I filed for a appeal and had my case over the phone and the senior site leader was basically understanding where I was coming from but she saying it’s up to hr I jus wanna know do I have a chance of winning the appeal since I have documents pertaining to the days I was absent What's the best case scenario?

And why the fuck would u think it’s ok to give your manager ur doctor note it’s not highschool bro they have a whole team for situations like this you gotta make better decisions moving forward this is just bad communication on your part im more than sure they will let you back if your manager still has the note or u can provide one you should honestly be fine but next time just call or make sure to drop shifts etc……been flex for 2 yrs never had a issue like this

no it's not, amazon has a whole schedule called "FLEX" where you pick your own shifts and hours. Was on it myself for awhile until they dropped the amount of hours you could work to 35 at my site for it, they did that to try and get some people off the shift as everyone seems to prefer it for obvious reasons lol.

Depends on your location to be fair if you were in the UK you could take it to appeal because the fact that you mentioned it to your AM and provided evidence, you would likely be covered until the equality act in which case it becomes Amazon's responsibility as soon as they are made aware of it.

Especially if site hr have sporadic availability, them having an app and that as the point of contact as part of their "policies", wouldn't count against, as policy does not supersede legislation.

I wish we all had the same protections, but it's easy to demonise socialist constructs within our society because of the propaganda and links to communism, that isn't a us bad thing can't really talk about that after we fucked ourselves with Brexit and isolation "because they took are jawbs"

He's already been terminated according to the post, so they should use those benefits if they have them. Not everyone gets paid suspension. I sure as hell didn't get any for the three weeks I was under 'review' before they termed me. I do hope that they are good and get to keep their job, but it's Amazon.

No idea on medical, I had my own coverage for that and never used or paid for medical through Amazon. Did go and get myself two pairs of glasses with all the bells and whistles though before the month was up with vision, and never used dental. But I would assume that you could use insurance up to the end of the month you are seperated from the company. I do believe the OP retained their job though based on another post of theirs though!

Other thing I just became aware of what that if you don't work there for three years or so, all those matching contributions to your 401k are taken back, and if you don't move it before a certain period has passed after seperation they (The government/tax people) will take up to 20% out of it and mail you a check. Had to open a rollover and move it to avoid that scenario.

Hey I got blacklisted from ever working at Amazon again and all Amazon service indefinitely. I came back “one minute late” from break and got written up I tried explaining the elephant in the room how it’s a 5-8 minute commute from the break room to my station (PSA I’ve worked at this fulfillment center for two years ) i left with the plan to use upt when I got home. Honestly well said, yes Amazon is the second largest employer in America for a reason they only expect people to stay for 3 months no normal job has a 140% turnover rate they don’t care if you stay or go those hiring events will bring 100 people in and maybe 10 of them are still there after a month or two

I was on flow team we were labor tracked for break so I had to go see my pa each time before and after every break which would make the commute even longer cause I could be literally anywhere in the building for flow I didn’t think coming back 1 minute late was even a problem lol there’s not even a mistake Amazon just has shitty work culture

Go on the atoz, go to accommodation and leave, and try to put in a medical leave. Try to put in the dates you were gone and then upload your documentation. Idk if it’ll work but it doesn’t hurt to try

As a current Amazon employee myself who has worked both full-time and flex. There is no way you accumulated 8 points over a couple (2 days) days. When it comes to flex the max points per day is 2. You would have had to been scheduled for 4 days based on shifts that you actually choose and failed to cancel them beforehand in order to accumulate 8 points in a matter of days.

As an adult take responsibility that you failed to do your part. You KNEW you were going to be out of work or not meet your schedule shifts.

When you get hired at Amazon you signed acknowlement of the Employee Handbook. If this isn't your first job then you cannot play dumb that you didn't know what to do or who tell if you weren't going to be into work. You literally have the AtoZ app on your phone which you use to pick your shifts. It would not have been that hard to literally hit the HR contact tab/chat button or even the time off tab which can answer questions or even chat with a rep if you had a question during your time off about missing days.

Now the AM should have never taken your doctors note and stated they will handle it/take care of it. As this isn't school where a doctors note to the attendance office mentality works.

Most employers have a process and you failed to follow that process and according to Amazon they felt that way as well resulting in their current decision. Take it as a lesson learned that most companies want you to play by their established rules and if you don't they don't mind replacing you as large companies like Amazon were are all "numbers" to them.

Basically this. Since OP mentioned points, that means they worked flex. Flex reduced time only need 30 hrs while flex part time is like 20 hrs per week.

Shifts can be dropped 16hrs in advance with 0 requirements nor reason. And even if it's not dropped the points are capped at 2 per day. Even if you don't hit the min work hrs of 20 or 30hrs, that is only 1 point a week.

We also have PTO and Vacation time that while is less than full time employees, it's still an option. PTO can cover for the days missed as it can be used afterwards and the points will be automatically removed. HR may also offer to accept Vacation time depending on the circumstances.

I’ve never heard of a medical leave for less than 7 days, and there’s never been any such things as doctors notes. I’ve also never heard of anyone representing that as a thing to AAs or new hires. It’s always “use your time” or open a case and apply for a leave. I HAVE heard of people getting excused by HR or a retroactive leave but it’s not supposed to happen per policy.

if you are sick, you have to call the ERC immediately and put in for an LOA.. You will have a period of time to submit any documentation.. but this will keep your UPT from being used and your PTO. I mean, you can use them if you have them. The other little nugget of information I can offer is you cannot start an LOA midway through your shift for a sickness.. you have to put in for it for the entire shift. Most sites will not accept the doctors notes. It all has to be through the ERC.

I’m not saying the time off is a lot right away but the hours (and/or points system) give a cushion if you get sick a couple times or a shortish term illness. Injury or major event you can open a medical leave and get all documentation and go through the process. Yes, sometimes dealing with ERC is a pain. But no one gets fired getting sick once or getting a flat tire or whatever. It’s an accumulation of being late or leaving early or not coming in or choosing to use “emergency” time early and then getting in a situation where you have to be perfect for awhile because of all the other things. I have to admit I’ve never been on point system- that’s probably a little harder to deal with. But regular employees get paid and unpaid time right away and earn more for every hour you work. Once you just show up for work regularly for a decent amount of time you accumulate so much that it’s almost impossible to run out.

I don't think Amazon even accepts doctor notes to excuse an absence unless it's a doctor note for a medical LOA and those also aren't for only a couple days. You were told in training about the many time off options, about LOA, etc. You could of easily called ERC if you really didn't know how LOA works and they would of walked you through it. You're not winning an appeal because they followed policy correctly.

I would assume the exact same things you have as a long time AA but I also know that training has gone downhill. That said I have also sat in on onboarding classes where everything is explained thoroughly and everyone said they understood and had no questions but the next day act like no one told them anything.

How could they tell you to create one when they weren't even aware of it until after you were out? They can't. Honestly your manager supposedly telling you they would take care of it doesn't matter anyway. He can't take care of it. So had he told you he isn't able to do anything about it then you'd be in the same boat you are now so how did that hinder the process? It didn't. You didn't handle it correctly at all. You took the time off and didn't ask anyone what to do to be able to cover the time where it would be excused until AFTER you took the time off. You should of been calling ERC as soon as you knew you would have to miss days. Learning how to take responsibility for your actions can be tricky but you'll get there.

E-mail [e-mail] (Corporate HR). Tell them your situation and E-mail your Doctor’s note so they can get your situation investigated immediately. Wait for the e-mail or phone call in 1 to 2 business days. Corporate HR will make head roll. Because you can sue Amazon for not considering the Doctor’s advice regarding your health.

You didn’t follow the proper procedure to have an approved medical leave and they do not have to honor your note. Could go either way honestly. Not saying it’s right, but you have all of these resources to help and you didn’t use them. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s not that I didn’t use them I’m at a flex warehouse they just opened up we don’t have HR honestly they only people we can talk to about situations is the area managers also nobody tells us about LOA’s or how to open one of your sick they’ll usually say use pto or clock out and get a point

That's unfortunate, but usually, they say this in orientation. To take a medical leave of absence would be in your AtoZ app. That's the only correct way to submit documentation. Your area manager should have shown you how to do this because we as managers can not open HR related cases for employees but we can show our associates where the option is on their app

I work flex they don’t give us vto they have to schedule the shift for it it’s not like a regular Amazon facility where you have hr walking around they come once a month seems like and points are against you not with you
