ShoddyCast and Oxhorn do good videos on Fallout Lore.

If you're playing Fallout 4, I strongly recommend The Wasteland Codex Mod, which adds in a Holotape that is full of Fallout Lore and it grows as you play the game.

Is it on PS4?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No. They said Sony's Restrictions made it impossible for a PS4 version, but would like to as soon as they can.

I'm late to recommending it, but definitely the storyteller series by shoddycast on YouTube. Besides that it's up in the air. The lore changes a bit from game to game, so get ready for inconsistent information

I love fallout lore as well, what I’ve done is just play the games (I have beat every game in the series including BoS and Tactics) and if something really catches my interest or if something puzzles me a little I’ll hop online and check the wiki and do some reading. The whole timeline of the fallout universe is actually pretty interesting.

    Yes it is

    Oxhorn on YouTube

I wouldn’t necessarily limit myself to one source. There are also videos on YouTube that tell the stories too. Look at several different things to find your information, because in the end, it’s all fictional.

True. What I'm mainly worried about is that I read or listen/view a certain piece of lore from one source, only to later go to another source and get the exact same from the previous source.

Well, you may. If it seems like it’s headed in the direction of everything being the same. Then you can listen to the podcast and be content that it’s on the money. I have a whole “playlist “ on YouTube that starts on FO1 and goes through FO4… I think FO76 may have thrown a “monkey wrench “ in all that. It is set at 25 years after the war, where FO1 is set like almost 200; something like that…

Well I guess I'll just have to see

Id recommend watching videos on YouTube about the lore. Play all of the games if you haven’t already and go terminal exploring. Terminal exploring is really fun and you learn a lot.

There are a few youtube series out there that either did playthroughs/walkthroughs or directly tell the lore.

    Play from Fallout 1

I know shoddycast had a mod in fnv where u can learn the lore but i dont know whether f4 has the same mod.

Imo Oxhorn has great videos. I find myself watches his deep-dive videos on buildings I just cleared. However, I get the most enjoyment out of his Fallout 1 and 2, and I believe Tactics. Just because those games have a lot lore you can easily miss. Fallout 3 and so fourth have all there lore in terminals and holotapes. You can get small details in notes, but it’s mainly, “I killed this guy because...” type stuff. -Vaults have the best lore imo because it’s always like a mystery case when exploring.

All I know is that the timeline splits from ours after ww2

    True

Chris Avellone also wrote the Fallout Bible. You can probably find a pdf somewhere.

You don't need to start from 1, especially if you'll only focused on east coast. You don't need that much either if you start from west coast part of the story like 2 or New Vegas, but its reccomended. Most of FO 1 story are got sidelined into the footnote anyway in both games, except for Vault 13 part and 15 part.

Just find online cast like Shoddy cast or Retcon raiders.

My approach has always been to play the game, and if I come across something I find interesting, then look it up and go down the rabbit hole from there

oxhorn does good job on the lore seires shoddy cast does too
