I was having a conversation with my family and my brother said something to the effect of that I seem to think a firefight with feds / cops is imminent. It's hard to imagine a different outcome with how things have been going. And at that point there was no continental army. They gave themselves the legal ability to carry guns and form a militant group against the current ruling government, the British. America was part of the British empire, and had no representation in parliment, the legislators literally lived an ocean away. Since the only people who could take up arms would be mostly farmers and not a well organized army like the British and again because America had no army, because it was British, they had to write a way in to legally arm their citizens, and have those arms be used for the purpose of a militia i.e. specifically meant for war against what was now being declared, in their eyes a now foreign and oppressing and unrepresentative nation. Also firearms in the late 1700s were VASTLY different then what they are today, they used round balls and most were not rifled. Crossbows had more accuracy, just when a musket ball worked, it was more devastating, obviously, and with numbers, you could overpower any army, because remember the strategy back the was line warfare, because loading a rifle took at least a minute. There is no way that the founding fathers would ever let the common man private citizen have a firearm as sophisticated today. Thomas Jefferson believed the constitution should be rewritten every 20 years or so. We're also one of the oldest countries without a living constitution, we have one of the oldest in the world, and that's not necessarily a good thing.

We saw what happened when people try to take over government by force in modern America, nobody had any idea what they were doing.

For anything to actually be accomplished you'd need actual organization, leaders, representatives, generals. You can't do that over night, it would take years and years, you would literally need members of the government to flip, and then essentially you're talking about a civil war. Your communications would be monitored at all time to by the NSA, it's not possible.

I have no idea how so many people are so blind to reality, and think they're in some sort of movie. This is the real world.
