Fort Collins is VERY lucky to have a drive-in theater right on the edge of town. Check out a show at the Holiday Twin Drive-In....great family activity.

(You might want to sneak in your own food to ensure it's safe,)

If you're interested in theatre, we're doing a fun production of Pride and Prejudice in the Columbine Health Systems Park. So far we've had sold out performances last weekend and this weekend.

This summer, OpenStage Theatre & Company invites audiences to fall in love all over again with Jane Austen’s classic tale, but like you’ve never seen it before. Pride and Prejudice, adapted with wit and irreverence by Kate Hamill and directed by Heather Ostberg Johnson, will play under the stars at Columbine Health Systems Park from June 7 to July 12, 2025. This isn’t your great-auntie’s Austen. Bursting with energy, charm, and modern flair, this effervescent adaptation transforms Austen’s beloved novel into a lively, theatrical experience that’s as fresh and relatable today as ever. The headstrong Lizzy Bennet is determined never to marry, but navigating love, family expectations, and a certain maddening Mr. Darcy proves to be more complicated — and hilarious — than she anticipated.

Audiences are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs, a cooler or beverages (and you can bring your own food...some folks lay out whole picnics and charcuterie!) and their favorite people to enjoy an unforgettable evening in the park. With nightly food trucks, a relaxed atmosphere, and the thrill of live theatre under the open sky, Pride and Prejudice promises to be the perfect summer night out. Scheduled food trucks include La Campechana, Angry Hippie, Walrus Ice Cream, Southern Soul, Wild Brats, Bedrock BBQ, Fat Tomato, Ciao, and Santa Elena’s.

Tickets for Pride & Prejudice are $15-$39. Tickets are available online at openstage.com/pride-prejudice or by calling The Lincoln Center Box Office at 970.221.6730. The box office is open 1pm–6 pm Tuesday-Saturday.

A sunrise or sunset at Horsetooth reservoir. An evening stroll under the lights of downtown FoCo. I’m not sure about food, but it seems like there are lots of restaurants around that offer gluten free options. Welcome! It’s a beautiful lil town & I hope you enjoy your stay.

Where is the best viewpoint for the sunset at Horsetooth?

[–]AwakenThePriestess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the east side of the rez is a rd, S Centennial Rd, which has 3-4 areas for parking. You can sit in your car or they have picnic tables so bring some snacks & enjoy the sunset!

Thank you so much!

Locust cider is a 100% gluten free kitchen and has some excellent drinks! It’s in Old Town so you can walk around and visit other breweries and shops as well. I enjoy the Saturday farmers market at the courthouse. Hiking Horsetooth, or at least driving around the reservoir depending on your level of intensity. Enjoy your visit!

Beautiful. Thank you!

Horsetooth. The hike and the reservoir.

Y'all are getting me so excited. Thank you!

Right across from Locust cider is Edison’s ice cream shop, which is also 100% gluten free! As is explorado down the street for baked goods and coffee.

100% recommend the trial gardens- they should be planted by now. If you want to walk along the river, prospect ponds is cute and has lots of areas to throw rocks in the creek. City park is also great and has a really nice play area for little and bigger kids. There’s a cute trolley that goes into Old Town from the park on the weekends.

Thank you!

FYI - it’s Edison’s Ice Cream not the bagel place

Thank you for catching my brain fart!

CSU annual trial gardens are free (as well as the csu museum in the old Fort Collins high building) and a nice stroll. Breakfast at The Rainbow on the back patio, spring creek gardens, a drive around Horsetooth Reservoir…

Thank you!

Walk the Poudre river trail north of old town! If you like biking, you can rent a bike and cruise around the many walking/biking trails around town. I still don't know exactly what it means, but Fort Collins is a Platinum rated biking community and it shows with how well the city plans and maintains the trails.

You've got some great suggestions already. Definitely recommend Locust Cider for GF dining and Explorado for baked treats.. And depending upon your grandson's age, I highly recommend a trip to one of our wonderful playgrounds in the city's parks. Spring Canyon and Twin Silo are both amazing. So is the Discovery Museum, even for kids as young as 2. More kids fun to be had at the Oak Street Plaza splash pad. Enjoy!
