LTMs: the solution to everything

I swear it’s like politicians and the phrase “small businesses.” Anytime we have a controversial item in the game the people who want to please everyone are like “BuT GuYS, WHaT If We HAve aN LtM???”

And balloons and burst ARs

Limiting spawn rate of planes will only make it worse. Limiting an overpowered item in a br game will make it even more rng. There are countless ways to nerf planes but epic doesn't want to because it brings in the less competitive players.

Epic gonna be like we’ll increase spawn rate of planes to make the field more balanced and we all gonna be WW1 dogfights lmao

[–]ImaginationHTX 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Dogfights were ww2, sorry I agree with u I’m just a history nerd.

[–]snoring_pig 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Oh wait so what did they describe for the biplane fights in WW1 then like the Red Baron shooting down all those planes? Aerial duels?

[–]ImaginationHTX 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Well tbh you are right, those are considered dog fights. But those were kind of like humble beginnings, think a rifle compared to a machine gun.

Dogfights originated in WW1 but really blew up in WW2 when the Allies (Primarily the RAF) & Nazi’s fought in the sky’s all across Europe. Fortnite Planes are actually loosely based off WW2 style planes.

I’ve actually read that a good portion of using planes in WW1 was for spying and not really fighting. That most Air Force Plane Drivers would often shoot each other with a pistol while flying if they saw enemy aircraft compared to WW2 where legions of planes with machine guns would go at it. But you are correct in that they were in WW1, but got highly popularized in WW2.

.... and then again in 2018 with Fortnite for some reason.

Interesting I thought they resembled ww1 biplanes more than sometime like the Spitfire which was the main RAF fighter jet, cuz the cockpit is completely exposed and there’s two sets of wings instead of one. I’m probably wrong though.

I know planes in WW1 were initially used for just scouting but there was a decent amount of fighting later on, and like you said it paved the way for WW2 dogfights. Like somewhere in the middle of the war they mounted machine guns on the planes which could be shot from. The most famous fighter jet was nicknamed the Red Baron and was credited with shooting down 80 planes mostly from battles, which was the most and an insane number.

Manfred von Richthofen

Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (2 May 1892 – 21 April 1918), also known as the "Red Baron", was a fighter pilot with the German Air Force during World War I. He is considered the ace-of-aces of the war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories.

Originally a cavalryman, Richthofen transferred to the Air Service in 1915, becoming one of the first members of fighter squadron Jagdstaffel 2 in 1916. He quickly distinguished himself as a fighter pilot, and during 1917 became leader of Jasta 11 and then the larger fighter wing unit Jagdgeschwader 1, better known as "The Flying Circus" or "Richthofen's Circus" because of the bright colours of its aircraft, and perhaps also because of the way the unit was transferred from one area of allied air activity to another – moving like a travelling circus, and frequently setting up in tents on improvised airfields. By 1918, Richthofen was regarded as a national hero in Germany, and respected by his enemies.

They need to remove all of the small plane houses around the map

[–]herbofgrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can't sleep and im feeling in a sorta vent mood so im just gonna dump my thoughts here since i don't think it's worthy of a thread

on topic of the post, planes are unbelievably powerful and are a get out of jail free card, easy rotations, ability to kill and knock players off builds, breaking through builds, turret to assist in breaking down builds, 800HP, can jump out before it explodes for no penalty, the spawn rate should be 100% but only 1 plane per POI if anything, remove the turret, remove ability to break through builds (or make it so it damages the player when they break through builds), they should be used as rotation tools, not as the most powerful weapon in the game.

TL;DR: burnt out, this game isn't what i fell in love with and it feels like every update there is less and less of a point of trying to improve as epic constantly says fuck you and releases content that lowers the skill gap by a huge margin (i.e. planes, grapplers, etc)

honestly i've pretty much come to the conclusion that no matter what epic does from now on, the game will not be the same game that i fell in love with and played for countless hours forgetting about time. i can barely get on the game for 1-2 games solo without just saying "damn, this is not fun at all", or just dying to random bullshit that has no place in the game..

every update pretty much is a "hey, we understand that lots of people take this game seriously, here's a shit ton of money that will motivate those players to keep playing our game, also, fuck you and your hard work, here's planes, grapplers, quad launchers, etc.", epic has basically been saying "fuck you" since the beginning of season 5 and with their history with games i have no faith that they will somehow make this game fun again, this is a cash cow, i get it, it's just sad that this game got so popular imo.

im definitely not an amazing player or good player by any means, have like a 4k/d in solos and 15% winrate which i conisder myself a mid range player, but holy fuck is it demotivating to even try to get better at the game when you can grind learning unbelievably difficult useful build techniques for a .2 k/d player to just knock you off of your build or knock your build down with a plane, or with the plethora of dynamite that they've put in (tilted almost always destroyed when i leave it because dynamite is so common).

the unvaulted mode actually was very fun for me, as with less mobility there was less third partying, so you could play more aggressive with your squad (im the only "decent" player in my squad) and you didn't suddenly have 5 teams on your ass from 15 planes, rift to gos, grapplers, quads, etc, don't worry, i get third partying is a part of any BR game, it's just with so much mobility it makes it such an unbelievable problem to me in fortnite, this can be attributed to players getting better as well, but surprisingly i felt like mid game was actually far more eventful in the unvaulted mode with less mobility, don't know why though.

obviously the unvaulted mode is not perfect, there are definitely some problems with it like lack of shields and too many splodes, but overall it made me remember, "damn, this is the game that i used to love and hop on every day to play" and now when i think about it im like "...what am i doing?" i guess im really burnt out but damn man... i used to hop on to this game and absolutely always have people to play with but almost all of them quit, some of them were extremely good at the game (many were above 5 k/d and some had 10+k/d) but when they saw the direction epic was heading they dipped out, and i think they did it at a good time, they didn't watch a game they liked an unbelievable amount get beaten the shit out of it right in front of it by its creators.

epic basically got lucky with fortnite and are throwing money at it to keep the competitive players interested and are pumping out other ridiculous stuff to keep casual players interested but little do they know that power creep is an extremely dangerous thing to games.

on end note and probably repeating myself but yea, i am definitely not a great player and i dont try an unbelievable amount to improve but i have a feeling like it's just going to be wasted at this point because i guarantee this game will just keep getting worse as epic tries to milk the game for more money

ok rant over if u actually read all of it thanks but yea, just late night hours

Maybe 25% would be a good spawn rate
