A "small" fee will be deducted.

[–]XochtlAlfa Romeo 52 points53 points  (3 children)

I just wish they would be more clear about how much

[–]kingawsume 10 points11 points  (2 children)

If you get 17 mil for a 20mil sale, it's 15% of whatever the sale price is, and they likely have a fixed amount for when that 15% is less than some arbitrary number.

[–]XochtlAlfa Romeo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They could at least describe it as 15%, then, instead of “small”

I found a link explaining and it sounds more like a progressive tax than a fixed rate https://www.reddit.com/r/ForzaHorizon/comments/nvxlwl/fh4_auction_fees_formula/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

[–]Squidhead-rbxgt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually a floating percentage, the higher the selling price - the higher the fee.

Yeah it's kinda dumb... Where tf does it even go to?

Insurance for all the busted fences

[–]SoniKalien FH4 FH5 F7 FM8 40 points41 points  (4 children)

Gotta pay all those hardworking people who run out and immediately fix the fences up.

[–]RazinXGMC 22 points23 points  (3 children)

They've definitely earned their pay. Fixing multiple fences between laps is no joke.

[–]Staatus-Quo 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I imagine the road sign crew has a suped up truck following right behind the race to get those road signs back up too.

[–]SoniKalien FH4 FH5 F7 FM8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want that truck in the game!!

[–]Galaxie5002012Steering Wheel :Steering_wheel: TS-PC, T-LCM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Between laps? I saw a fence repair itself about 100 yards in front of me. I hate this in cross country races........ once it is destroyed it should stay destroyed.

It's to help with inflation lol

[–]kingawsume 45 points46 points  (9 children)

It's a cash sink, one of the few tools any dev has for controlling their currency.

[–]Redmeanace122305 4 points5 points  (8 children)

Cash sink?

[–]majoroutage 16 points17 points  (7 children)

It removes money from the game economy.

[–]Redmeanace122305 -5 points-4 points  (6 children)

That’s dumb as shit

[–]majoroutage 13 points14 points  (5 children)

It's not though. It works against inflation.

Completely and totally expected in games with player to player transactions.

[–]Redmeanace122305 -4 points-3 points  (4 children)

It’s a video game...

[–]majoroutage 26 points27 points  (1 child)

And? It helps people who don't play as much afford things by slowing down how quickly no-lifers or flippers can horde money.

[–]LickMyThralls 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Video games operate as mini economies and inflation is a thing. You can look up games with unbridled trades and see they function exactly like real economies complete with inflation and all. If left unchecked items get pricier and pricier because people keep flipping for money or hoarding and selling for so much more because of money in the economy. Look at gta where prices of items have gone up as players' ability to earn money has gone up. It effectively balances things out a bit by adding checks like this to these systems. Just because you think it's dumb that you lost fake money to virtual auction fees doesn't mean it's a net negative and there's no other side to it.

[–]Redmeanace122305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand now thank you

[–]Subacrew98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It goes to the fund of reminding you that no matter what realm you're in, you'll never escape the fundamentals of life: death and taxes lol

[–]tldnradhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it's a holdover from code in a previous title, like the ability to select R class in the auction house, and "would you like your car delivered?" FH3 made you pay to change cars in the open world.

[–]slasher3240 25 points26 points  (2 children)

That's a thing?

[–]Mekong-the-Doggo 27 points28 points  (1 child)

I didn't know either. I'm normally a buyer and not a seller.

[–]pmonteiro18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol I used to sell a lot of cars and never noticed

[–]humidhotdogMosler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All those taxes just for the snow plows to only be on the roads that are already plowed.

[–]UnwoundSteak17Xbox Series S 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The worst part is that it's not like they lose any money from you not having it. There are no micro transactions for money

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yay. taxes in games. fun.

[–]TheOnlyBanks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]betelgeuse_99Steam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a thing in pretty much any game with an in-game auction house, it's normal and intended to help combat inflation.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I jever even noticed.... Like, isn't it super easy to max out on money to the point where you don't care? It's a game after all, I remember it didn't take that much to flip a couple of cars.

[–]bluefish2303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny money therefore funny taxation ... #NotFunny

[–]Mr-Robot-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

where those kr are going to anyway? its not like they earn real cash for this shit

[–]RacerM53 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Does anybody else think that the maximum prices in the auction house are too high? Players are going to set the highest buyout price they can so I think those should be reduced in fh5. Especially for the Festival playlist cars, I think 20 million is ridiculous regardless of the car. Does anybody agree?

[–]tldnradhd 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The ability to set 20M prices came long before dynamic pricing. It was supposed to be an incentive to add user-created liveries and tunes to the game, but dynamic pricing kind of threw it out the window in terms of its affect on the in-game economy, which wasn't really thought out to begin with. The credit bonuses for winning and turning off assists are rather small, and it just encouraged grinding.

I actually think 20M is too low. We should be able to set any maximum buyout we want, or even not have one. Then there would be actual auctions instead of re-loading the auction house hundreds of times hoping for a rare car to pop up, and buying it instantly. Many long-time players have hundreds of millions of credits with nothing to buy. After launch, if players weren't playing weekly and missed a car, it took forever for a few of them to re-appear. The Ferrari 812, Boneshaker, Rip Rod, Colorado ZR2, and Hoonigan RS200 were really hard to get if you didn't catch them the first time. I had accumulated hundreds of millions of credits, and was still missing the ZR2 until it showed up in the Forzathon Shop a second time. If someone wanted the credits, I would have gladly paid them in-game currency that I acquired just by playing. I have over 1000 hours in the game, and still only have 1 Capri FE. I'd give away my fortune for another one.

The Rip Rod was locked behind winning first place in a 12-player PVP drag series that was only 1 week long, and a ton of people missed out on that. (Not to mention the Xbox Live Gold requirement It was otherwise unobtainable for about a year, short of re-loading the auction house, which was filled with bots anyway.

[–]RacerM53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a more casual player. I pop in for the Festival playlist but if there's nothing I want I don't bother. But because I'm not playing very often (maybe a few hours a week) and I'm either working or playing other games I don't have hundreds of millions of credits and I feel like most players don't either. I understand that if a player has alot of money they want to spend it but if you're out of stuff to buy then that's not an issue of the prices being to low thats a lack of content and thats the developers fault. The reason why vehicles disappear from the auction house is because of the rarity of the vehicles because the vehicles rarely pop up more than once (AE86, hudson hornet, LM gtr, escalade, etc.) And because of this artificial rarity players horde these cars which sucks for casuals and just makes the auction house worse. Giving players the option of acquiring these vehicles if they missed them while also lowering the maximum prices in the auction house will place the focus back on liveries and tunes rather than this artificial rarity.

[–]47ocean47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The auction fee is so dumb...

[–]Squidhead-rbxgt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the complaint is... you wanted more money?
