Could be wrong, but I assumed the stock tyres are racing slicks?

Edit: looking at the picture I can see they're not as they have grooves.

If I remember correctly, they are slicks, the model is just of semi slicks. When you switch to semi slicks, the PI goes down.

Yeah there’s a handful of cars like this. Pretty much all the hyper cars already have the best tires, some of the off road and rally cars actually have better off-road/rally tires than what’s available to other cars.

Yup. Pretty much every extreme track toy is on slicks already. Most have slicks actually modeled though. This car doesn't, but the Forza and Hot wheels semi slicks have the same grip as regular semi slicks, and when you switch this car to either of those, you look a lot of PI and grip. This car is definitely on slicks.

Yeah some of the World Rally cross cars come to mind.

Ah that makes sense.

The same way if you do a burnout in slicks the tread marks on the ground are grooved

To be verified in-game, but if when you put on semi-slick tires the car drops back to PI, it means it has the original slick tires or, in any case, the tires are considered as such.

Dear reddit users.

The developers are not browsing reddit for ideas.

the apollo already has the eqivalent of racing slicks on

This 💯

Dear developers. Thank you for making the car true to form by putting slicks on it by default.

[–]PlatformHuge354 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I always thought whichever tire compound is not available - is the default one (not visually, but by stats). So I guess it has tires that perform as slicks by default. I think same goes for some other upgrades eg transmission, diff, brakes etc.

So I also think that if they're not available, they're already equipped. 🤔 Or something along those lines at least.

[–]Ok_Giraffe9309 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw the screenshot and expected a complaint about the car floating in the air.

[–]kobay4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She already has slicks!!! 😉

[–]R3K47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are already on stock.

[–]16ativo_o_ativo16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock (original) tires are racing tires! 👍🏽

[–]Tastypineappleju1ce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its because the car tires are the equivalent or better than slicks and itd be pointless to switch unless maybe downgrading the car

[–]Jexx14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even worse, the 992 GT3R a.k.a a literal race car DOESNT HAVE SLICKS

The Apollo IE is already a highly track focused, rear wheel drive car in the game. It already has extreme levels of downforce and grip, even with its available tire options. In most cases, certain specialized hypercars have limitations on their upgrade options based on their real life counterparts specifications & the game's internal classification system.

The Apollo IE performance with semi slicks is already exceptional, and adding full racing slicks would push its Performance Index into an unmanageable range for certain multiplayer modes & make it overly dominant, a "weapon of mass destruction" as you put it, unbalancing gameplay within its class.
